Feedback on Teacher Niko Trial Lesson 01: My Family

1. How did she greet the student?

 Teacher was very enthusiastic. She greeted hello the student with a smile and a
wave. Used TPR very well. Teacher played the electronic piano and sang the
Alphabet song. This is really good. She encouraged the student to sing with her.
She gave appreciation and praises to the student.
 She introduced the lesson to the student.

2. How is her TPR?


 TPR is very strong. I mean as we can see she exaggerated her gestures to make
the lesson understandable.

3. How did she use Manycam/props?


 I think there was no ManyCam but tutor made use of TPRs a lot as well as
flashcards, Electronic piano (music) and toys. Used different flaglets when
teaching colours. Used both digital and non-digital rewards.
 Used realia (real life objects like “Mother”)
 Tutor made different sounds to teach (she changed her voice).

4. When student didn’t know how to say the word? How did she do?
 Played the recording the used TPR. Repeated the word as well. Used music,
too in teaching words. She syllabicated (divide) the words into single syllable
top make it easier for the student to articulate.
 Made use of Music productively. Used songs to teach.

5. How did she check student's understanding?


 Used ICQ (Instruction-Checking Questions) and CCQ (Concept-Checking
Questions) in this way, tutor was able to made sure that the student really
understood the lesson.

6. What’s the difference between your class and her class?


 My teaching somehow is quite different. I used TRP too but I need to work
more on it. I use music as well and games. I also have non- digital rewards,
plush toys and other IMs (Instructional Materials). I need to improve
however. I will try to provide live music soon. I am still practicing the guitar.
I can play the piano but I can’t bring the piano inside my room –it’s huge. I
am using ManyCam. I use games as well to ease the tension of the student. I
know I can still improve and I want to become better.
ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK: I can see the excitement of the student towards her Trial Class. Teacher
used power presentation to welcome the student in the class! Teacher Niko used flashcard as she
introduced her name. Teacher used songs to build a good rapport the student. We can see the
student’s reactions. The student was really amused! She used plush toys, too! Invited the parent to
join the class, to make it easier for the student and to tame down student’s shyness. Assured both
the parent and the student that they could learn together. Appreciated and praised the student.
Gave digital rewards. Used games (they colour) to ease the tension of the student. Gave positive
feedback and assured the student and the parent that everything was okay and encouraged once
more to practice and review the lesson as well. Before the lesson ended, she gave student a digital 5
star reward and waved good-bye, then left the room.
