Personal Nursing Philosophy

Nursing is a critical element of the healthcare delivery system. It promotes the

wellness and fitness of all human beings, regardless of their backgrounds. Within the

spectrum of healthcare, nursing professionals depend on nursing philosophies to meet and

exceed their clients' expectations. Although multiple nursing philosophies exist, my nursing

philosophy involves integrating personal and nursing values, beliefs and principles in

practice. Accordingly, I define its key concepts, four nursing meta paradigms, the nursing

process, its application to nursing administration, education, practice and research. Finally, I

explain the strengths and limitations of my nursing philosophy. There are bounty assessments

of the various nursing theory's out on the planet today. In any case, my genuine belief of the

way of thinking of nursing is to treat all patients with the utmost regard and practice of

patient-focused consideration.

Personal Nursing Philosophy Key Concepts

A key concept underlying my nursing philosophy rests upon the assumption that nurse

empathetic, holistic and culturally sensitive healthcare services. As a result, I always utilize

medical judgement, experience and knowledge to provide individualized attention and care to

clients. For me, treating others with empathy and comparison are the hallmarks of the nurse

process. Being an expert nursing professional, I am especially interested in understanding my

patients' emotional, physical and psychological needs through formal education, lifelong

learning, and hands-on experiences (Deliktas et al., 2019. Besides that, I endeavor to treat

patients as human beings as unique individuals needs and desires. This concept enhances my

role as a patient advocate when assessing interventions, treatment options and in diagnosis. I

encourage patients to participate productively in the nursing process to maximize outcomes.

A critical requirement for promoting effective patients' outcomes using nursing philosophies

is confidentiality. Nurses must protect the individual privacy of their patients per nursing

ethics and professional principles. Protecting the privacy of clients assures patients of

discretion, respecting their rights, treating respect and dignity. Respect and dignity like I

would want to be treated.

Four Nursing Metaparadigms

The four nursing metaparadigm characterizing my nursing philosophy include the

environment, health nursing and person. Most importantly, I recognize that the nursing

profession involves numerous interacting with people from different economic, social and

racial backgrounds. Therefore, delivering effective healthcare services entails providing

holistic care that considers the different faces of a patient's life. A holistic approach facilitates

the delivery of quality care. Although patients and nurses are fundamental elements of the

nursing process, nurses should include the environment metaparadigm in their practice

(Deliktas et al., 2019). Human beings comprise communities with unique characteristics,

beliefs, norms, practices and cultural values. Therefore, it is impossible to separate

individuals from their environments as they are intricately connected. Third, ensuring

patients' wellbeing is a dynamic process existing within the continuum of health to disease

and the influence of environmental fluctuations.

Most importantly, healthcare correlates with an individual's quality of life. For

example, I have encountered patients with trauma, multiple-choice disorders, acute physical,

and mental health conditions in daily interactions with patients. Finally, I perceive effective

nursing practice involves engaging with patients for communities to increase understanding

of their present healthcare needs necessary to formulate appropriate interventions to

challenging medical conditions. Subsequently, this meta-paradigm guides nursing

professionals every day to respond to patient needs that require understanding a patient's

circumstances. For example, during patient assessments, diagnosis and treatment procedures,
4

nurses must understand the underlying factors that impact patients emotional, social and

psychological wellbeing.

Application to Nursing Practice, Research, Administration and Education

I have constantly acted empathetic with patients, nursing professionals,

administrators, and nursing educators through this personal nursing philosophy. In nursing,

one should exhibit empathy when engaging with patients, their families and others as it

increases a professional's ability to focus on the nursing process. Empathy recommends

nursing professionals to patients and allows nurses to grasp their patients' emotional and

psychological needs (Deliktas et al., 2019. For instance, dealing with persistently sick

patients is an intense and challenging undertaking that requires addressing complex medical

issues to ensure positive patient outcomes. Overcoming these obstacles entails building

rapport with patients necessary for acquiring their trust. For example, communicating with

patients about their lives and interests effectively supports patients emotionally.

Accomplishing this objective requires that one demonstrates empathy and compassion

always. Moreover, my nursing philosophy equips me with skills for evaluating the impact of

public and primary health care factors on treatment and patient outcomes. Significantly, we

research medical conditions, for example, medical conditions that our patients are

introducing. Given that infectious diseases are the leading cause of death in the country, this

philosophy emphasizes the importance of delivering preventative health care services by

leveraging emerging medical technologies, evidence-based practices (EBP), research and

medical knowledge (Deliktas et al., 2019). Consequently, integrating this philosophy in the

nursing processes ensures that attainment of health care objectives improves patient

wellbeing in the short and long term. For this reason, my nursing philosophy incorporates

elements of the traditional nursing paradigm and social justice to integrate the four integral

attributes in the nursing process, as discussed in this section.

Strengths and Limitations

Although humans are imperfect, we can overcome challenges and live successful

lives. Several strengths derived from this philosophy are key to my success as a nursing

professional. On the one hand, my nursing philosophy is a source of self-confidence and

support in nursing practice. Maintaining a confident and disciplined attitude has helped me

achieve my career goals and meet patient’s needs. In turn, I have developed emotional

maturity, a vital requirement for responding and engaging with patients empathetically

(Deliktas et al., 2019. On the other hand, this philosophy helps me recognize my weaknesses

and devise solutions for overcoming present shortcomings. For example, I believe my

altruism as a weakness in a rational and materialistic age. Nonetheless, I think these attributes

shape my character resulting in the acquisition of experience, maturity and professionalism in

this industry. Over the years, I have learned how to address challenges that patients confront

especially in sharing confidential details. This allows me to create an environment where

patients are free to share their concerns, tribulations and fears.

While the nursing profession progress into the future, advancement, longevity and

relevance in this discipline depends on one's ability to enhance, utilize and improve nursing

skills and competencies. Developing a personal nursing philosophy that focuses on the

nursing process's distinctive elements is essential to accomplishing this objective. Doing so

improves a nurse's understanding of a philosophy's relationship to current nursing issues,

policies, and practices. Most importantly, an effective nursing philosophy ensures that I

remain accountable while delivering beneficial healthcare services to all. This way, nursing

philosophy enhances my competence, skills and knowledge based on patient assessment,

evaluations, and participation in the design of measurable and chive al short and long term

healthcare goals that integrate with a patient's lifestyle, economic and social backgrounds.
