Journal Title : The Effect Of Shaking Table Slope On Cassiterite Level And Recovery
Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum slope angle of the
shaking table for processing tin ore derived from middling air table products.
Method :
The method used in this research is the Shaking Table .
Material :
The material used in this study is a midling product that has been processed by
air tables
Result :
Shaking Table is one of the tools used in the mineral separation process based
on specific gravity. The main part of the shaking table is the slightly tilted deck, which
works because of the shock force and wash water which can increase the content with
grain size> 100 mesh. The forces that act on this tool are the gravitational force, the
friction force, and the driving force of the fluid. Factors that affect the shaking table
performance are the slope of the deck, the water discharge, the frequency of the deck
movement, the feeding speed, and the length of the blows. The variable that will be
changed is the slope of the deck due to the slope of the deck, which is the main factor
affecting the processing of tin ore in this shaking table.
Based on the results of the experiment above, it is found that the highest level is
at a slope of 2,260o, but the resulting recovery is low, whereas the highest recovery is at
a slope of 0.753o, but the concentration is low. The initial feed of each experiment
contained more fine grain sizes. A slope that is too large will result in slightly finer
valuable minerals falling into the tailling, while a small slope will result in most of the
bait falling into the concentrate. The optimal slope is found at a slope of 1.507o by
producing an average concentration of 65% sn, recovey with an average of 39% and low
tailings with an average of 1.7% due to the slope getting a high enough concentration
and recovery. In addition, the tin ore content that is wasted into the tailling tends to be
low, so that the slope has a large effect on the grade and recovery obtained from the
ore processing process where the greater the slope, the less weight of concentrate
produced and the concentration of concentrate tends to be as high, and vice versa.
Shaking table can increase the level of Sn from <20% to 40-60%.
Conclusion :
Based on the results and discussion of the research that has been carried out, it
is concluded that the slope of the shaking table has a large effect on processing results
where the greater the slope, the more concentrate is wasted into the tilling and the
smaller the slope, the lower the concentration of concentrate tends to be.
