Chapter 5: Internship Assessment and Recommendations

5.1. Overall Assessment of Internship Experience and

Recommendation
The knowledge of working in a corporate world itself allows to travel comfortably in the aviation

sector and the visit to numerous departments made it possible to get an overall fundamental

understanding of the essence and sensibility of the task. My proximity to the working

environment and the norms and standards should be used to collect vast amounts of knowledge

in order to engage and contribute to the sector in a safe way. I could also see the direction I

would take vividly with my professionals. Every department has its own working culture and

expertise. The key decorum to accommodate the workplace was valuable to understand. The

richest insight was the department of flight information, in which the realistic job was clear and

unclouded.

5.1.1. Major Responsibilities Undertaken During Internship

In each department, responsibility for the design of the work in that department was delegated.

Our primary mission in the flight information department was in effect to carry out a project with

our utmost seriousness and passion to learn new things with a view to modern aviation and to

participate in a strengthened organization.

The data entry that was the most significant factor of the HR department was conducted most of

the time, along with all medical bills and services that we previously had, data concerning the

employees that served in the PCAA, retirement age, tenure, advancement sequence and the

pension benefits granted to the prior retirement of the company. The main responsibility in the

HR department was to manage these details diligently and correctly.

We were able to visit the PIA cargo market, since the PCAA cargo department was not divided,

the influencing job in that department should be well aware of cargo protection, the shipper

profile details were considered before the shipment was approved, and the handling of the cargo

also was one of the department's most important tasks. The warning system was operational, for

this reason the x-ray scanners, to identify some form of dangerous substance in the cargo. It was

my key duty to take care of when freight was sent to immigration and the date when accepted as

no imported products can cross the borders of the cargo department without immigration

permission. Immigration and welfare inspections until the goods are carried out and the goods

are permitted out of the country's department. Another important role of the freight department

was the range, distance, and weight management method for each pallet and ULD.

In the SQMS department, I was assigned to review the SQMS structural activities, a decorum

with the duties embedded therein. It was a structural role. It was reported that SQMS was

responsible for conducting the surveys and audits to ensure protection and efficiency of the

operations in order to manage the quality of operations in accordance with ICAO international

standards.

Just as in the SQMS departments, because of the sensitivity of their job, I was not permitted in

the department to do anything practical for one day's nominal stay, but I received little lecture

regarding the observation of radar data, two groups observe the civil movements of aviation on

the radar were in the radar department.

I was assigned to examine the specifications of aircraft that were needed to be approved and

enrolled by the Pakistan CAAs in the Department of Airworthiness.

5.1.2. Skills and Qualifications Acquired from Internship
The first thing I noticed during my stage was that I learned deeply about the office and the job

after a proper conversation. You're happy you're doing better job than ever. And confidence in

the workplace that is required to develop one's own skills. During my internship, I learned and

improved various skills, including communication, as I can properly express my thoughts and

opinions on constructive topics. The willingness to handle pressure also changes considerably as

I learned to manage the pressure from the superior, the hesitation that occurred after handling the

pressure diminished. Time management is also a capability that has been developed with the

duration of my study, so I have been able to increase my time management abilities by handling

the role assigned to me in each department according to my residence in the department. In

addition, during the internship, I have seen major improvements in my overall individuality and

work atmosphere that led to relaxed and upright composition of my actions. In addition, the

internship allowed me to contact the field workers and to improve my expertise in social

interaction.

5.1.3. Impact of Internship on Future Career Path of the Intern

The more I was taught, the more motivated I found my carrier during the internship. My career

journey became clear to me. It not only made it easy for me to understand my own profession,

but also opened up a wide number of places for me in aviation that can lead towards my dreams.

Getting good understanding about the sector still allows you to better see the priorities and

measures to accomplish this aim and the fact that the internship has broadened my horizons of

thought would not be false. It helped to differentiate between the different interlinked

occupations in the aviation industry, depending on the essence and duties of the job descriptions.
5.1.4. Overall Comparison Between Theory and Practice
In fact, there is a contrast between the theory and the real experience, no matter how many times

I am learning textbooks it cannot be compared to the practical experiences that I have had during

my internships and I admit that theory works as a huge help in practical life. The things we learnt

during the course were of immense benefit because it allowed us to better and faster grasp the

practical activities. And I must have taken a long time, frankly, to learn without theory, the

nature of the practical activities. Furthermore, before making us work, the PCAA departments

first offered a brief theoretical clarification of the duties assigned to the workers there, so it is

easy to assume that the theory is the foundation that supports the functional process.

5.1.5. General Observations About the Sector of the Internship

The PCAA divisions are well organized and harmoniously joined together to fulfill the

organization's overall vision. Based on an overall observation, the rigid structure is no longer

present which in many respects is a good development. So, any department's job to accomplish

its targets is very effective and agile. The PCAA internship is a very positive project for

developing a young people with experience and an appreciation of the roles and tasks to be

carried out in the PCAA. It will allow the aviation industry to improve.

5.2. Internship Recommendation

As in many other organizations, there are few defects and gaps that should be filled and

eradicated to retain a stable place on the international forum for the PCAA. As in the Swiss

cheese model, the openings are aligned with the protection mechanism for mistakes or errors

such that the chances of rising and improvement will appear if these gaps are narrowed down.

Maybe due to incompetence or due to safety problems, many of the loopholes are steadily

causing latent mistakes, here are some topics I would suggest for a safer group.
5.2.1. Recommendations for the Organization
If we reflect on and remove mistakes and holes that remain within the framework, the

organisation will be able to thrive and the nation will flourish.

 Firstly, the check-in area of the AIIA is highly congested and creates confusion as there is

more difficulty to take-off in those time slots, provided that the big provider PCAA will

invest in expanding this area that will improve existing airlines and improve their

performance, as well as attract new airlines.

 Few airplanes that cannot land on the AIIA route, provided certain things such as the A-

380, will help to create brand identities and draw airlines with larger aircraft in their fleet,

whether we are widening the airways or building a new avenue with the idea of

accommodating these larger airplanes.

 Several times a lift to the control tower is disabled and forces the tower controllers to take

measures up and down the 6th floor and can impact the tower controllers' efficiency and

are risky so they can fasten or install a new lift which will help minimize exhaustion.

 The freight safety door is kept in close touch most of the time and could pose a safety

hazard to the cargo, and will eliminate cargo robbery and pilferage by functioning at all

hours and protect the cargo section.

 Management reliability in managing all the intellectual decision-making scenarios is of

major significance, such that all workers are engaged on the basis of equity and effective

performance.

5.2.2. Recommendations for the College

 For each passing day, the university internship program progresses and there are several

changes. When students are accepted, it is necessary to decide on their university name,
and it can be very beneficial if the aviation department maintains close ties with other

aviation organizations, such as ticket agencies, different airlines, flying colleges.

 Successful partnerships with different organizations will stretch the students' internship

horizon. Both students should be offered the ability to learn about the area and its

significance.

 Many students during the internship were late almost always as they did in courses that

make the University's image on the institution bad; hence the university's credibility will

be strengthened and more opportunities can emerge if the pattern can be improved by the

tight timing in the classroom.

5.2.3 Recommendations for Future Interns

 Students ought to be mindful of the value of the internship and obey the schedules given

by the agency, as late reporting and timing are not the key foundations of the aviation

industry in operation. Through reporting late, they would not only hurt the long-worked

reputation of the University but will also disrupt other students' opportunities.

 In addition, students should take the time of questioning and learning from the experts,

even though you weren't asking them, because it doesn't waste the chance to learn first.

 Students should closely track the learning environment as it will later turn out to be a

positive edge.

 It is easier to learn house rules as it protects them from a lot of problems and will give

professional people a good profile.

 The mission allocated to it should even be carried out on schedule and worked vigilantly

to discover new knowledge on air travel.
