What is a circle?

B. Motivation
The teacher will show a picture that represents circle and state its importance.

C. Presentation
Today, you will be able to find the circumference of a circle with a given radius.

D. Discussion
Finding Circumference of a Circle with a Given Radius
Circumference is the distance around a circle.
The formula in finding the circumference of a circle is C=2 πr where
C = circumference
π = 3.14
r = radius

Example 1: Solve for the circumference of a circle with r = 5 cm.

Solution
C= 2πr
C= 2(3.14)(5cm)
C= (6.28)(5cm)
C= 31.42 cm

Example 2: Solve for the circumference of a circle with r = 7 m

Solution
C= 2 πr
C= 2(3.14)(7m)
C= (6.28)(7m)
C = 43.98 m

E. Application
Directions: Solve for the circumference of the circle.
1.) A circle with r = 10 cm
2.) A circle with r = 15 cm
3.) A circle with r = 20 mm
