Cozia Mountains

Cozia Mountains are located in the central-south side of

Carpathian Meridional Mountains. It is located to the West side of
“Lovistei Country” . To the North-West the small gorge from
Pripoare of the creek Baiasu is separating the Cozia Mountain
from Poiana Spinului (great battles was taken here in the first
word war), where it goes to the central ridge of Fagaras Mountains
near by Avrig Lake. To the West, between Lotru and Calimanesti,
the Olt Gorge is separating this massive from the Capatanii
Mountain Peaks. Maximum altitude is in Cozia Top (1668 meters).
These mountains are made from crystalline rocks.

 Buila-Vanturarita Mountains
The Massive Buila-Vanturarita Mountain is
extending from the West of Cheile Bistritei
to the Est Cheile Olanesti. The link with the
Capatanii Mountains is made through Plaiul
Netedu (between Bistrita River and Costesti
River), Plaiul Lespezi (between Costesti River
and Cheia River) and Plaiul Hadarau
(between Cheia River and Olanesti River).
Maximum altitude is in Vanturarita-Mare
top (1885 meters). These mountains are made
from metamorphic rocks and crystalline
schists.

 Cozia Monastery
Located 3 km from the spa resort Călimăneşti
TRIPS IN VÂLCEA COUNTY Căciulata, on the right side of the Olt River at
approx. 20 km North of Râmnicu Vâlcea, the
ensemble Monastery Cozia, dedicated to "Saint
Trinity "at the beginning was known as "Nucet
Monastery", only later receiving the name "Cozia",
after the neighboring mountain. The great
church, harmoniously proportioned, with rich
ornamentation, was built by craftsmen from
Moravia, according to the Serbian church model
from Crusevat, from hard white stone, between
1387-1391, the founding father of Mircea cel Batran
(Mircea the Elder). The original wooden
monastery, burned and it was restored in 1794
from bricks, being painted in 1907. The cross on
the tower is from Mircea’s times, and the polygon
in the nave and the narthex have were given to the
monastery by Prince Constantine Brancoveanu.
 Turnu Monastery
The new church, also called the Great Church
(Manastirea cea Mare), was raised between 1897-
1901, by Gherasim Timus, having the patronage
"Change to the Front"(Schimbarea la Fata). Into the
proximity of this ancient monastic settlement still
preserves some famous historical vestiges such as

"Trajan's Table" (Masa lui Traian) and thermal baths
from Bivolari - on the left side of Olt River. The old
church immediately upon entry was built in 1676, in
the place of another wooden, the foundation of the

Metropolitan of Wallachia (Tara Romaneasca), died
out in the year 1702. At the bottom of Mount Cozia,
not far from the Olt River, the silhouette of the
monastery Turnu only with monks, located 600 m

bottom of the Turneanu hill of the Cozia massif

 Mănăstirea Stânișoara
Între anii 1803-1806 este reconstruit schitul Nucet-
Stănișoară de către monahii Sava și Teodosie,
veniți de la Athos, sprijiniți de episcopul Iosif I al
Argeșului, dar incendiul din 1850 va distruge
întregul așezământ. Actuala biserică din piatră a
fost construită între anii 1903-1908, sub ctitoria
episcopului Gherasim Timuș, stareț fiind Nicodim
Manu. În anul 1937 se construiește biserica
paraclis. Au participat la punerea pietrei de temelie

Bisericii Ortodoxe Române. La aceea vreme în
incinta mănăstirii se găsea o casă de odihnă cu 100
de paturi. Întregul așezământ monahal se află într-

naturale ispititoare. Monahii duc o viață foarte
austeră, slujbele se țin noaptea, iar hrană este fără
carne.
 Stanisoara Monastery

 The Ocnele Mari Saline

village Ocnele Mari, located in Valcea
District, in the central-southern part of
Romania in the area Subcarpathians of
