The primary difference between an informal and formal organization are levels of
structure and hierarchies that determine how members interact. Formal organization are more
structured and rely on the authority based upon chains of command. Informal organization do
not require hierarchies of authority or structured internal process. Formal organizations are very
structured in order to reach stated goal. There are established laws and rules that govern labor
and norms within and enables members to work together toward the same objectives. While
informal organization tend to have more subtle norms that are expressed through customs,
morals or belief that are often not witen. Members of an informal organization mostly have
equal influence. Both formal and informal organization serve human needs and meet goals
ranging from financial to values-based. They allow people to build communities and achieve
goals that would not be possible alone.
Staffing is one of the most important functions of management. It involves the process of
filling the vacant position of the right personnel at the right job, at right time. Staffing is very
important because its function is to obtain qualified personnel for different jobs position in an
organization. Staffing helps to ensure better utilization of human resources. It helps in
promoting the optimum utilization of human resource through various aspects. In staffing, the
right person is recruited for the right job, therefore it leads to maximum productivity and higher
performance of an organization. Job satisfaction and morale of workers increases through the
recruitment of the right person and it ensures the continuity and growth of the organization
through development managers. Staffing is an mportant function as it ensures efficient
performance of all the other management functions. Staffing involves recruitment and
deployment of quality personnel in various position across an organization.
4. How will planning, execution and maintenance relate to each other in the context of staffing?
Planning execution, maintenance are all continuos process with an aim to achive an
objective. Planning, execution, and maintenance are all begin with the objective of an
organization and ends with the achievement of the objectives. In order to achieve their goals for
the efficient performance of other functions of management, staffing is the key. If the
organization does not have the competent personnel, or if they did not pick the right person for
the right job, then it cannot perform the functions of management like planning, organizing and
control functions properly.
