The 12 Most Important Personal

Development Topics You Need to Know

Figuring out what’s most important when it

comes to self help, personal development, or self improvement can be tricky. Each
person is different and no two people are at the same place in their lives. What’s a
person like me to do when trying to help out?

Ask what you want to see, read, and learn!

So that’s just what I did. A few months back, I put a survey up as the first couple of
questions at the beginning of the strengths test and ya’ll did an awesome job of getting
me some good information! I have a much better understanding of what it is most
people are looking for when it comes to making life better.

Sure, some of it may seem obvious, but since we’re all on different chapters of our
personal development journey, you never can be too careful when it comes to finding
out what matters most. Ready for the results? :)

The 12 Most Important Personal Development Topics:

I only had the survey up for a few weeks, but it looks like we had about 153 strengths
test takers answer the optional survey questions. That was about 5% of all visitors to
the test. So we didn’t get a lot of participation, but we did get some good data.

Now out of that 153, there were 128 good data points. The “Lord of the Rings” and less-
than-nice answers were deleted. We have some VERY interesting people out there,
folks. Overall, a relatively small sample size, but there’s still some good information to
be had.

Here are the Top 12 Most Important Personal Development Topics:

1. Confidence (10.2%)
2. Career / Interview (7.8%)
3. Motivation (7.0%)
4. Communication (Listening, Public Speaking, Presenting) (7.0%)
5. Strengths / Weaknesses (6.3%)
6. Self Understanding (5.5%)
7. Leadership (4.7%)
8. Optimism / Positivity / Happiness (4.7%)
9. Organization / Efficiency (4.7%)
10. Families / Parenting / Relationships (4.7%)
11. Purpose / Passion / Vision (3.9%)
12. Assertiveness / Attitude (3.1%)

I’m not really surprised by what’s up there, but I am little surprised by some of the
ordering. Good to know!

Oh and I did have some other good answers so I might as well include them here since
you’ve read this far.

 Focus / Concentration (3.1%)

 Goals / Taking Action (2.3%)
 Health / Fitness (2.3%)
 Time Management (2.3%)
 Compassion (1.6%)
 Dealing with Difficult People (1.6%)
 Esteem (1.6%)
 Mind / Memory / Unconscious (1.6%)
 Religious / Faith Self Help (1.6%)
 Self / Skills Assessment (1.6%)
 Self Control / Will Power (1.6%)
 Accountability (0.8%)
 Balance (0.8%)
 Commitment (0.8%)
 Creativity (0.8%)
 Empowerment (0.8%)
 Entrepreneurship (0.8%)
 Expression of Feelings (0.8%)
 Guilt (0.8%)
 Presence / In the Now (0.8%)
 Retirement (0.8%)
 Strategic Thinking (0.8%)
 Stress Management (0.8%)
Health and fitness this far down the ranks?! Whoa… that was a big surprise for me. I
guess people who are looking to figure out their strengths already have the health and
fitness subject pretty well covered. Interesting.
