Why Nutritional Supplements?

Medical research has established an of environmental pollutants and toxic

Obtaining the Recommended Dietary
Allowance (RDA) amounts of vitamins,
minerals, and other nutrients may not be

beginning, the RDAs were guidelines to help
reduce cases of severe nutritional deficiency
diseases such as scurvy or rickets. They do
not address the potential health benefits of
advanced levels of certain nutrients.

The first company I founded, Gull
Laboratories, was successful in growing

That’s why I turned my attention to human
nutrition. It was clear to me that the
nutritional needs of the human body were
not being met in today’s society and that

supplements were quite inadequate. I founded
the company USANA Health Sciences
to provide the highest quality nutritional
supplements possible.
I used my background in microbiology and
immunology, my experience in cell culture
at Gull, as well as the latest clinical research
in human nutrition to design USANA’s first
product – the Essentials™ vitamin, mineral
and antioxidant supplements.
