Lecture 21.2 The Development of NLP
Hi there and welcome back
and in this lesson we are
going to look in more depth
at NLP Neuro Linguistic
programming.
Now NLP is a big topic and in fact I
have a number NLP course that you
can take if you wish to discover more
about it, however in this course we are
just looking at a bit of and overview.
So… where did NLP come from? Well

The NLP  techniques initially came from
already existing therapies, for the most

NLP was first used by psychotherapists

created models that are easy to
understand and use. The good thing 
about nlp is that its application is fairly
simple making it more accessible. Its
also fast. And clients can get some
best parts of Psychotherapy and puts
them into models for achieving rapid
results. 
So... NLP can be used in different ways,
it has been applied to business, sales
and marketing, but we will focus on
how it is used in therapy. The
development of NLP took into
consideration new ideas that hadn’t
been recognised yet, such as the work
of hypnotherapist Milton Erickson, and
Family therapist Viginia Sator and
formed them into simple models. 
Milton Erickson’s work is particularly
techniques in relaxation and hypnosis 
at a time where the focus was on
creating deep trances. He triggered
altered states through storytelling and
descriptive visualisation and this led to
NLP techniques refocusing on light
states of relaxation.

There is so much knowledge under the
umbrella of NLP and I encourage you
to do some further reading,
particularly about how it can be
applied. And I think your practise will
be improved greatly by having NLP as
one of the tools in the tool chest.
We have already looked at one model
of NLP which was the goal setting
process if you remember. In this
section we are going to look at two
more NLP models.  fact while we are on that point I would

swish pattern  is image manipulation
for the purpose of changing
strategies.  Once you have learnt about
these you can come up with your own
translations if you would prefer. For
accuracy, do mention the proper
names so clients can read further
about techniques if they would like. In
always encourage self-help and
encourage clients to study programs
like this for example.
Ok so  NLP combines ideas from many
other therapies into simple models and
for the relaxation used in NLP only a
light trance is necessary.
