AIRFOIL FAN

AFHS Product Description

The AirPro Airfoil industrial fans (AFHS) are designed to move high volumes of clean air at low-
to-medium static pressures. The AFHS fan blades are backwardly inclined and designed with the
same aerodynamics that create flight, making this fan one of the most efficient centrifugal fans.
This means:

 Less horsepower is required to produce the same performance as other fan models.
 Operational sound levels are lower.
 Energy costs are lower.

We offer the Airfoil centrifugal fan in multiple sizes, arrangements, construction classes, and
impeller and housing widths. Whether standard or custom, each AirPro AFHS industrial fan is
designed and built with unmatched quality and backed by responsive, respectable service.

HIGH PRESSURE RADIAL
SHROUDED

HPSL / HPSM Product Description

The AirPro high pressure radial shrouded centrifugal blower (HPSL) has been designed to move
low-to-medium volumes of air at high static pressures. With its surgeless design, this fan
provides consistent performance through variable air flow at or near a constant pressure.

Two different wheel types are available on the radial shrouded industrial blower. The most
appropriate wheel design is based on the volume and pressure combination of the air, along with
the desired operating efficiency of the high pressure blower.

 HPSL – A high pressure centrifugal blower featuring a shrouded wheel design. This wheel type is designed
to move low volumes of air at high static pressures with high operating efficiencies.
 HPSM – A high pressure industrial blower also featuring the shrouded wheel design. With increased wheel
width, this model is designed for low-to-medium air volumes at high pressures.

AirPro’s industrial heavy-duty, high pressure blower fans are constructed of continuously welded
material, which provides a higher quality product compared to riveted construction. These high
pressure fans are primarily used to move clean air, but they also have the capability to move
some material-laden air.

HPSL / HPSM Performance & Design

 Static pressures up to 140”wg
 Temperatures up to 1200°F
 High static efficiency up to 70%
 Shrouded wheel design
 Surgeless design for smooth operation to shutdown
 Round inlet and outlet for pipe connections

HIGH PRESSURE RADIAL

OPEN

HPRL / HPRM Product Description

The AirPro high pressure radial open industrial blower (HPRL) is designed for low-to-medium air
volumes at high static pressures. With its surgeless design, this high pressure fan provides
consistent performance through variable air flow at or near a constant pressure.

AirPro radial open centrifugal blowers are available with two different wheel types. The most
appropriate wheel design is based on the volume and pressure combination of the air, along with
the desired operating efficiency of the high pressure blower.

 HPRL – A high pressure centrifugal blower designed with an open radial wheel. Engineered for low air
volumes at high static pressures. The open radial wheel does involve decreased operating efficiency when
compared to the shrouded wheel but covers a wider range of air volume and pressure combinations.
 HPRM – A high pressure blower similar to the HPRL but with a wider wheel design. The increased wheel
width increases the air volume capacity.

AirPro’s heavy-duty, high pressure industrial blower fans are constructed of continuously welded
material, which provides a higher quality product compared to riveted construction. These high
pressure fans are primarily used to move clean air, but they also have the capability to move
some material-laden air.

HPRL / HPRM Performance & Design

 Static pressures up to 140”wg
 Temperatures up to 1200°F
 High static efficiency up to 70%
 Open radial wheel design
 Surgeless design for smooth operation to shutdown
 Round inlet and outlet for pipe connections

HIGH TEMPERATURE PLUG

FAN
FCHS Product Description
A plug fan is used when the fan must mount to an enclosure to circulate air in a clean,
contaminated, or high temperature environment. A high temperature fan requires no ductwork, as
the wheel is directly inserted into the enclosure. The motor, bearings, and drive parts are outside
of the airstream.

The AirPro high temperature plug fan (FCHS) is used with a wide range of industrial furnaces,
industrial ovens, and other heat-processing equipment. Generally designed to move high
volumes of air at low static pressures, this high temperature fan is offered with several wheel
designs and with various materials that are appropriate for the specific operating temperature.

High Temperature Plug Fan Performance & Design

 Temperatures to 1700°F
 High air volumes, low static pressure
 Forward-curved, backward-inclined, and radial-wheel designs

Configurations
 V-belt drive
 Direct drive
 With/without housing
TOP MOUNT FAN
(ARRANGEMENT 4V)

Product Description
The AirPro arrangement 4V centrifugal top mount fan allows the fan inlet flange to be mounted
directly to the outlet flange on top of a dust collector, cyclone, bin vent, etc. The fan wheel is
mounted directly on the motor shaft but, unlike other arrangements, the shaft and motor are in a
vertical position.

The 4V arrangement saves space and money often spent on extra ducting. Additionally, as a
result of the direct connection and lack of additional ducting, less static pressure is present in the
system thereby increasing efficiency. Typical accessories are outlet dampers, silencers, weather
guards, & bird screens.

Top Mount (Arrangement 4V) Performance & Design

 Horsepower up to 125HP
 Temperatures up to 180ºF

Details of the most common industrial fan accessories provided by AirPro are listed below. If you
need an accessory not listed or have questions about how AirPro can provide your package
solution submit a quote request or give us a call.

Dampers: Dampers provide flexibility by enabling you to control the air flow moving
through the fan. They are commonly used on fans that have a starting temperature
lower than the actual operating temperature. The fan will require more horsepower to
cold start the fan than when the air has reached operating temperature. A damper can
throttle the air flow until operating temperature has been achieved.

We offer three different damper types, and each one is offered in different materials
and construction classes. Each damper can be operated by either a manual lever or
by an actuator and positioner.

 Opposed-blade damper: The most common, least expensive, and least

efficient damper is mounted on the outlet of the fan. Most commonly operated
by a manual lever.
 Parallel-blade damper: Mounted onto the inlet side of an inlet box, this damper
provides pre-spin to air entering the fan inlet. It is sometimes used as a fan
outlet damper when a small operating range is needed.
 Variable-inlet-vane (VIV) damper: The most efficient and most expensive type
of damper, this damper is mounted onto the inlet side of the fan and is generally
operated by an electric or pneumatic actuator.

Inlet-box damper: Inlet box dampers are used to efficiently guide the air into the inlet
of the fan. The inlet box is often used when there are space constraints that restrict
the length of the duct entering the fan.

Flexible connectors: Each connector usually comes with two steel flanges that are
connected with flexible material, which provides flexibility in connecting the ductwork
to the fan inlet and/or outlet openings. Flex connectors are preferred in many
installations to isolate the fan from the system, helping to troubleshoot and solve
system vibration problems. They are required when mounting the fan onto spring or
rubber vibration isolators.

Silencers: Silencers decrease fan operating sound pressure levels. Silencers are
used on the fan inlet, outlet, or both and can be positioned either vertically or
horizontally. Silencers often require accessories, such as weatherhoods, bird screens,
and/or filter boxes.

Weatherhoods: Weatherhoods are designed to protect the airstream from weather-

produced elements. They are used at terminal points of the system, such as the fan
outlet or inlet.

Bird screens: Bird screens can be used on the fan outlet or inlet to prevent unwanted
objects from entering the airstream.
