Her life was forever changed at age 15 by a Taliban bullet on 9 October 2012. Malala was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman while she was en route home from school. Fazlullah and the Pakistani Taliban took responsibility for the attempt on her life. She survived the attack and was flown from Peshawar to Birmingham, England, for surgery. Since then, she has won the Nobel Peace Prize, traveled all over the world, authored two books, and started studying at Oxford University. Having received the prize at the age of 17, Yousafzai is the youngest Nobel laureate. This year in Brazil Malala said “Education is more than just about learning and reading. It was about emancipation. It was about empowerment of women,". Nowadays, at the age of 21. Malala has her own foundation founded in 2013 called “Malala Fund – Working for a world where all girls can learn and lead”. The foundation supports the work of education champions in countries like India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria Region, Afghanistan and also in Brazil where they support school from indigenous Brazilian community. Malala is an inspiration not only for the women but for the human rights in general because she is fighting to the education get better around the world. She talks about how education can change the world and because of this, suffered an terrorist attack and almost lost her life.
