Used almost only in quant.

But you could also use in in qual as a tool to probe or gather individual impression.

However it is much more effective to just ask respondents how they feel
spontaneously.

A scale is just a one dimensional simplification, when in fact reactions to

something are multidimensional - e.g. You cal like something for it's
design but find it has limited relevance. Or agree with something at first
but progressively change your mind. There things can be captured in
qual.
