"OPTIMIZATION OF WATER RESOURCES IN THE QUILLCAY RIVER SUBWAY,

FOR THE PURPOSES OF SUPPLYING FOR AGRICULTURE, 2020"

I. INTRODUCTION

Water is a basic resource for the development of agriculture and human consumption, the

increase in supply costs and the scarcity of water resources in certain areas has raised the need to

develop more sustainable water supply systems, based on the need There is an urgent need to

reorient the approach to the management of Water Resources in the Quillcay River Sub Basin

towards the sustainable use of the resource and the reduction of current water demands, one of

the main objectives is to balance and increase the productivity of the water of irrigation in order

to reduce demand and avoid conflicts between water users, and at the same time promote water

conservation measures and public awareness of the value and problems of water management.

In this context, the objective of which is to balance the supply and demand of water based on the

availability of water resources, both conventional and unconventional and integrating both

quantitative and qualitative aspects.

In short, it is about making a distribution of the available water resources taking into account the

quality of irrigation water required by each user. In recent years, it has become clear that one of

the most important challenges in water deficit areas is the allocation of available water, as

competition for its use between agricultural, urban, industrial and environmental demand has

intensified. In this sense, various optimization models have been developed whose objective is to

improve the management and planning of water resources.

Low levels of irrigation technology in distribution infrastructures and on the plot,
which causes low distribution and application efficiencies

Poor irrigation scheduling according to agroecological conditions

Low water productivity for irrigation of the main traditional crops

Optimization of the use of water resources

Water consolidation is a big concept that includes stabilization of the basin
through ditches, construction of dams, afforestation. They are important works that
serve to store water in the rainy season and use it in the dry season. In this way, it
will be possible to face current and future water demands for multisectoral use and
management, as well as challenges that may be faced by climate change.

Increase in technical levels

Two fronts of structural measures can be defined to reduce the consumption of
irrigation water per unit area
The modernization and rehabilitation measures of the water distribution
infrastructures
The former are generally necessary to be able to implement the latter, since
without an efficient distribution system, irrigation systems at the plot level cannot
be improved and the latter are necessary to achieve a true impact on saving water.

2
