Installation Cleaning and lubricating

Step 1. Before mounting the Shoring Mount Hand Rail ensure Use a solution of warm water and a mild detergent to clean the railings and its labels. Do
that the shoring has been installed as per the manufacturer’s not use solvents or other cleaners to clean the equipment. The threads can be lubricated
instructions and that there is sufficient panel available to mount with a light spray of a dry lubricant, never use oil or grease as these lubricants can attract
the platform (approximately 200mm in height). and trap contaminants which can affect the operation of the clamping system.
Also, before attempting to mount the Shoring Mount Hand Rail
check that the soil around the shoring box is stable (look for
fissures, cracks, signs of water, services or previous excavations)
and make an assessment of the potential for ground collapse.
Note: Never walk between an excavated area and a shoring wall
without first checking that it is safe to do so.
If there is any doubt as to whether it is safe to proceed, seek the
guidance of a suitably qualified person.
Guidance can be sought from the following publications (or
check with your local regulatory authority)
• SA Water, Technical guide line, TG127 “Trenching and
Ground Support Systems”
• WorkCover NSW “Excavation Work Code of Practice” July
2014

Step 2. Ensure the clamps are in the correct orientation by

pressing the button clip and rotating each foot until it is 90° to the
rail, and the button pops out locking the foot. Ensure the clamps
are open wide enough to fit over the top edge of the shoring box
by winding the lever arm on each screw anti-clockwise.

Step 3. Lift the handrail into place, ensuring that the clamps are
positioned over the top of the shoring box with the screw heads
facing away from the pit/excavation. Tighten the clamps by
winding each lever arm in a clockwise direction until tight. Never
over tighten the clamps and never use mechanical aids such as
pipes, sockets or bars to tighten the clamps; as damage to the
components may occur.

Step 4. When placing multiple handrails next to each other,

ensure that the rails are placed as close to each other as
possible to reduce the risk of person/s falling between the end- BEAVER TECHNOLOGY SERVICES CAUTION
