Title of Study: AN INNOVATIVE STUDY OF A PROTOTYPE PEDAL
ASSISTING MECHANISM AND AUXILIARY ENERGY
GENERATING SYSTEM ON BICYCLES

Dear Panelists,

During the proposal stage, it was approved that the material selected for the
Static stress analysis of our study would be 4130 Chromoly Steel Alloy. This material
was selected due to the fact that standard Mountain Bicycle frames used are composed
of this material. However, the proponents were able to procure a cast carbon steel
bicycle frame because of the availability of the material. This may become a factor in
the simulation of the bicycle frame, there are differences in the parameters and material
properties of the 2 different metals and may compromise the integrity of the study.

To overcome the difficulty mentioned, the proponents would like to request your
approval to change the material selected for the stress simulation of our study, provided
that all other methods and parameters used in the study will be the same. We opt to
compare results of the theoretical simulation to the actual prototype so we may develop
the prototype with refined results.

We are hoping for your kind consideration regarding the change in the material
selection for the bicycle frame stress analysis. Rest assured that the research questions
that the study posed to address will remain unchanged.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Respectfully yours,

Emilio Joaquin C. Flores Jeffson T. Occidental
