Monthly Safety Campaign – February 2021

COVID-19 Precautions
As part of our ongoing management of the Covid-19 pandemic, a detailed procedure was released in January 2021. Please read
and familiarize yourself with the excerpts below. Your personal care and attention is required. PREVENTION IS BETTER. Note the below
basic principles for reducing the risk of infection and improving your overall health.

• Social Distancing – Where possible, stay a distance of 1.5 - 2.0m away from people. Avoid touching and shaking hands. Follow
the GR procedure and client site protocols for distancing and work rosters/ rotations.
• Masks – All staff, visitors, vendors and subcontractors are to wear the approved masks at all times when social distancing of
1.5m cannot be observed.
• Personal Hygiene – Wash your hands frequently (especially before and after work, and before and after meetings) with a mild
soap for minimum of 20 sec, or with disinfectant or sanitizer. Soap is adequate to destroy the virus. Wear a face mask or
covering where possible.
• Hand Sanitizers – Hygiene stations (with hand sanitizer) must be installed at all entries and exits to the building, or training
facility. Additionally, all significant workplace locations must contain a hand sanitizing station, such as at lifts, main floors, team
areas, meeting rooms, stores etc.
• Drink Frequently – Frequent drinks are very valuable (warm or cold) as they flush any virus particles that have gotten into the
mouth and throat and flush them into the stomach where the stomach acids breakdown the virus and thus avoiding getting virus
particles into the lungs. Warm drinks over 27deg have been found to be more beneficial than cold drinks.
• Stay Healthy – If you remain healthy with a strong immune system, your chances of getting better if infected are significantly
improved. Get regular and adequate sleep, take regular exercise outdoors, eat well balanced meals, avoid stress, practice
meditation and yoga or breathing exercises daily if possible.
• Public Gatherings – Avoid circulating with people outside your family or work groups, travel straight from work to your
accommodation, don’t visit people and don’t join public gatherings wherever possible. This reduces the amount of people you
come in contact with and therefore reduces your chances of infection
• Visitors and Vendors – Avoid immediate contact with visitors and vendors where possible. Consider if the meeting is essential
and follow social distancing and hygiene practices.
• Business Meetings – Business meetings must remain effective, while respecting distancing measures. Consider if a face to
face meeting is essential, and if not, plan for online tele or video conferencing measures. If a face to face meeting is essential,
consider restricting participants to key members only, or have a combination meeting of staff present and online.
