Overall Crushing and Screening Process Design

The crushing and screening section has a primary, secondary and a tert.ary crushing and screening section.

The primary crushing section is operated by the mining personnel and the plant operator responsibility begins
from the coarse ore stockpile. Information on the primary crushing section is included in this module for
reference purposes.
The primary crusher is a jaw crusher and crushes the ROM ore from a top size of <400mm to 100% <150mm.
It is fed with ROM via a scalping grizzley feeder. The undersize from the grizzley and the product from the jaw
crusher are combined and fed onto the coarse ore stockpile.

A weightometer measures the amount of material deposited onto the stockpile.

The secondary and tertiary crushing section is operated as an independent unit separated from the primary
crushing circuit via the coarse ore stockpile and the mills via the mill feed silos.

Crushed ore is removed from the 6500 tonne live capacity stockpile via two of four feeders located in the
stockpile tunnel onto the stockpile reclaim conveyor and conveyed up to the double deck fines removal
screen.

To protect the cone crushers, tramp iron is removed from the conveyor via an electro-magnet, large iron
objects not picked up by the magnet are detected via a metal detector, located on the belt after the magnet.
The screen oversize from both decks on the fines removal screen discharges into the secondary crushed feed
chute and the undersize discharges onto the sizing screen feed conveyor.

The
secondary crusher reduces the top size from 150mm down to 36mm, discharging onto the sizing screen
feed conveyor, together with the tertiary crusher discharge the sizing screen feed conveyor discharges onto
the sizing screen via its head chute.

A piston operated splitter carriage positioned above the sizing screen diverts part (0 to 100%) of the sizing
screen feed onto a transfer conveyor discharging onto the sizing screen conveyor the oversize is returned to
the tertiary crusher feed bin via a screen oversize conveyor fitted with a tramp iron removal magnet. The
remainder of the material gravitates on to the sizing screen and tertiary crusher circuit with the screen
undersize conveyed to the silo.

conveyor are fitted with belt scales to record the feed to' each silo allowing the operator to control the split
between the systems.

The splitter carriage allows the feed to be split between both systems or to either systems in a bypass
condition while the other system is down.

The screen decks on both the screens are identical slotted wire screens with
