Communication strategy for addressing potentials

Importance of setting it as a guideline: Potentials -- mainly the customers or potential buyers

will expect an explanation from their sellers for such unexpected major occurrences in the
Industry. Utter silence will only express indifference and raise doubts against -- the moral
attitude of the people, the Culture of the Country and the ethics of the Government. Therefore,
major representatives of the Industry should stand against such tragedies to assert accountability
and communicate proactive strategies. Such should be done by means of “communication
tactics” to mitigate problems like -- misunderstanding -- which will in turn trigger -- breach of
trust, loss of customers and the fall of Industry itself.
Justification:

Strategic communication will eliminate misrepresentation: Incidents like Rana Plaza and
Tazreen fashion put out an image of the RMG sector in Bangladesh -- which portrayed that BD
RMG sector used labor as paid slaves. Yes, some RMG companies might be doing so, but for
them those who aren’t doing so are getting misrepresented. This is causing them to lose buyers
despite being outperformers in the industry. Proper communication by solid strategy will
definitely help reduce the misrepresentations.

Convey the characteristic of “accountability” from players of industry: If silence conveys

indifference, communication will convey accountability. Key players should point out convicts
and shed light on their faults alongside holding themselves responsible for -- not noticing such
mischievous companies, or obstructing them from operations. This will help retain trust which
will help the key players to retain the customers and save the industry.

Communication strategy - sharing the vision

In terms of tackling the aftermath

Communication refers to the exchange of information. It needs to be done both ways. One party
delivers and the other party receives. In terms of tackling an emergency situation, a shared
company vision will help the frontliners a long way to communicate better and will expedite the
implementation of publicly accepted solutions.
Company recognition can lead to higher credibility. A high level of recognition among the
stakeholders can be built through the proper understanding of company vision. Company vision
implies the ideas of what the company does, what the company is all about and what plans and
goals will be accomplished. This vision should be shared with each and every employee and with
the audiences. This can be achieved by creating opportunities of awareness about the company’s
activities through events, seminars, training and other programs.
The more company vision is known to the audience, the more probability to get acceptance and
support from the audiences, which is the main purpose of any effective communication.

Justification: Incidents like "Rana Plaza" or "Tazreen Fashion" made the scenario worse because
no one knew their vision and a common perception about garment factories is that they always
exploit their workers. These factories never tried to change this perception by promoting their
vision to the stakeholders. As a result when a critical situation arised, they lost their credibility as
employees and other stakeholders did not really know their company’s objective, purpose and
way of doing things. The company’s vision was unclear to everyone.

Communicating with the truth:

One of the most important job is to face the truth no matter what.If the owners or the
stakeholders does not accept the truth it creates the opportunity for all the people to say that
they do not bother about the incident and also they will say that the lack of sincerity among the
members of the industries have resulted in such a disaster because they are not accepting the
truth. The guidelines regarding this situation is that no matter what the stakeholders have to
take the responsibilities and provide necessary incentives to the victims of the families because
the loss of that families are huge.Though those incentives cannot bring back the victims,it will
somewhat ease the sadness and burden of their families. If those owners does not do that it will
have a negative impact among the locals of the country and not to mention the devastating loss
of reputation among the international world. This will have a more negative impact on our RMG
sector. Also local people will lose faith among the owners or shareholders of those industries
and will move on from this jobs. This can have a great impact on our economy because the
RMG sector plays a vital role in the sustainability of our country. One of the main reason of these
is the availability of the cheap labor. So to protect the country and this sector from these kind of
harassment, there is no other way but to accept the truth and convince and communicate with
the customers, general people, stakeholders that the industry players are really sorry for this and
will take all the responsibilities and necessary steps that this kind of incidents does not take
place further.

Building the relationship of trust:

Trust is important in any relationship, and leadership is just another form of relationship. Trust is
always a feeling, an intestine, a thing when we see it or something we know. Communication is
one of the best ways to create trust in RMG. For as a leader, contact is a vital feature. The
manner in which you relay knowledge represents your nature. Communicating shares more
than information about practice plans. It exposes the style of management and leadership and
who are you as an individual, perhaps most importantly. Leaders with the missing voice will find
it difficult to inspire confidence, empower workers and relate their work to a better and better
future directly. Consistency is one of the most critical communication factors to create trust. The
RMG industry should build the trust to maintain the consistency to the foreign buyer. Maintain
easy and uncomplicated contact is essential to build trust. With needless jrgon, don't complicate
things. Open contact creates trust, which in turn empowers workers, increases buy-in,
embraces the program, and encourages ownership. Altogether, trust will help the RMG industry
to build a practice which is financially stable, as well as outstanding emergency care.

Harness the power of social media

Social media is the quickest way to share ideas, thoughts and information. In today’s world
people search the internet in terms of any information they need. Almost every top line
readymade garment industry has a social media presence for their buyers. Nowadays, people
always stay connected via social media like facebook, instagram, twitter, whatsApp etc. If any
incident occurs buyers, customers and workers are needed to be updated about the current
situation of the incident. To overcome all the fake news and rumours in social media, that
particular industry should use social media and websites.

Incidents like "Rana Plaza" or "Tazreen Fashion" had the most negative impact on buyers and
workers. By using social media this cost could be easily minimized.
