5 Speak on the importance of careers in people’s lives.
There is a difference between a job and a career. A person who takes a job expects to
earn a wage in exchange for the tasks involved. S/he doesn’t usually take the time to see
beyond that exchange and plan for what might come next or what might be needed in
order to grow or increase earnings.
The person who plans a career, usually is motivated to learn more, to contribute more, to
have more say in the workplace and to earn more. These people take both a short and
long term view of a job and look at what they can learn and how they can grow in each
situation.
A career is only important to the person who is motivated for the things I mentioned. I’ve
read a story of a man who took a train one hour to and from work each day for his entire
work life. He was a janitor. He could have found work closer to home but he chose not to.
He used those two hours to read and over the course of his years of work, he read a
significant amount. Reading was more important to him as uninterrupted time than
developing a career.
At the pace of change occurring in our world, I don’t believe either a job or a career is THE
answer for any single individual. Very few jobs will offer a work lifetime or employment.
Careers are going to change and require new skills. The person who chooses to invest in
him/herself is the one who will choose to be a lifelong learner. It will be the person who
takes responsibility for his/her worklife and its place in the overall scheme of work /life
balance. That person will look beyond the job and even beyond a single career and will
chart a path that provides challenge and interest and financial stability in order to foster the
relationships and time needed for living this one life we have.

This article about the man who name Ben. He was as caretaker (піклувальник) of a

This company announced about a free vacancy. There were 34.000 hopefuls who
dream about this work, but only 16 remained from 15 countries. The main task was to

Each region of the UK has its own NHS body. This guide will focus mainly on the service
in England but you can find out more information about services in other regions on the
websites for NHS Scotland, NHS Wales and NHS Northern Ireland. The differences
between the regional health services are mainly structural and how some of the services
are delivered.
There have been many structural changes to the NHS over the years. Many private
companies and charities have become more involved in running services in recent years.
All services are publicly funded and the government is ultimately accountable, although in
reality it is more of a public private partnership in terms of delivery.
19)Describe common symptoms of the flu; allergies and how to treat them.
Recognize flu symptoms. Before you can effectively treat the flu, make sure that's what
you actually have. Flu symptoms are similar to everyday cold symptoms, but they are
more severe and occur more rapidly. They may last two to three weeks. The following are
common symptoms of the flu:
Cough, often severe.
Sore throat, and a lot of wheezing.
Fever above 100°F (38°C).
Headaches and/or body aches.
Runny or stuffy nose.
Chills and sweats.
Fatigue or weakness.
Shortness of breath.
Loss of appetite.
Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea (more common in young children).
Getting a flu vaccine every year is the best way to prevent getting the flu, but if you
are sick, you will learn how to treat your symptoms.
20)Explain how bad habits affect a person’s health.
Eating too much
Do you often eat more than your stomach allows you? Overeating is not at all wise, it will
not only make you fatter but also make you unhealthy. Eating too much and binge eating
will surely create more health problems, even if it is healthy food. You need just the right
calories and nutritional intake to maintain good health. If you eat more than what your
body needs, be it any type of food, it can result in weight gain. It can also invite other
health problems like indigestion and bloating. However, eating too much can also be a
sign of underlying disorders like diabetes or hormonal problems. So, check your risk
for diabetes and thyroid problems and seek medical advice, if needed. Plan your diet
properly, keep a check on your portion size and have balanced meals. Think of the
harmful effects before you over eat the next time and try to avoid it.
Sitting for long hours
Don’t be a couch potato!
Sitting inappropriately and for long hours are both bad health habits. Being inactive for
long increases your risk of obesity, diabetes and heart problems. Inappropriate posture
can also add to the problems resulting in muscle strain, neck pain and backache. So,
make it a point to maintain proper posture when sitting, standing or lifting weights and
avoid sitting for long hours; be active throughout the day. Take small breaks during work,
do not use car for smaller distance, go for walks daily. Remember, small changes can
make a really big difference in your health status.
Sleeping less
Sleep is how your body relaxes and prepares for a fresh new day. Lack of sleep will turn
you into a zombie. Sleeping less is a health risk that can invite health issues like weight
gain, impaired immunity, excessive stress, lack of concentration and irritability.
Inadequate sleep can affect your health in many ways, cause hormonal imbalance, affect
healing and also aggravate pain conditions. While sleep needs vary from person to
person, having adequate sleep at night is important for all. So, in matter how busy you are
do not compromise on your health. Good night’s sleep is answer to a lot of health
problems and a healthier you.
28. Give some examples of the ways in which American culture influences the rest
of the world.
American + culture. Many people in the world believe these two words do not really belong
together. The stereotype of the clueless and uncultured American runs deep – and not just
abroad. It is part of American culture itself – a kind of “in your face” pride at being down-to-
earth and everyday. The common man and woman with common tastes have been
celebrated in America since its independence. At the same time, the sophisticated and
“highfalutin” tastes of the upper classes have been viewed with satire and disdain. That is
why it is a bit of a paradox that American culture has become the world’s most widespread
and influential today. Indeed, it has become so powerful and ever-present that some fear it
may actually damage their own national cultures.
The basis for the impact is, of course, America’s position as the world’s dominant
superpower. Not only does the USA have “hard power” – the ability to get people to do
what it wants. It also has enormous “soft power” – the ability to get people to want what it
does. It was not always so. Before the 20th century, America was viewed as a cultural
backwater. At that time the “American Dream” was the USA’s greatest cultural export to
the world – an open-ended inspiration into which millions poured their own dreams and
hopes for a better life. It was around the time of the First World War that things began to
change, that America first began to export some of its home grown culture abroad through
films and music. Charlie Chaplin and “Westerns,” ragtime and jazz became familiar to
millions outside the country. It was not until after the Second World War, however, that the
flood gates really burst. The rise of the consumer economy and the “American lifestyle” in
the 1950s had a terrific impact on the world when American popular culture went global.
29. Speak on the differences in the way various nations communicate.
Communication is one of the most important necessities of every human being. Fast
travel, international media, and the Internet have made it easy for us to communicate with
people all over the world. Because important decisions in business, politics, education,
health, and culture effect citizens of more than one nation, the question of whether
communication between people of different nations is effective and whether all parties
emerge with the same understanding is of crucial importance. Individuals who deal with
people from other cultures want to learn how to improve their performance through
improving their communication skills. For example while Japanese person is extremely
concerned in making sure that everything said is polite and guarded , An English may take
great pains to respect the privacy of their companion, an American simply say what he
means and ask what he`d like to know. But Ukrainian will cheerfully chat with a stranger
and ask such questions as `Where are you from` What do you do for a living. But almost
no Ukrainian would seek information on the finansial status of a stranger.
30. Speak on the statement “Food for thoughts” with intelligent comments.
food for thought: books, films, quotations. Meaning
an idea or subject to think about
to have things to think about arising from an event or situation
new scheme or method to do something
Origin
The phrase "food for thought" is contemporary in nature but the idea dates back to the
times of the French revolution and the era of reason. This was the time when people shed
the beliefs that were taught by popular religious outlets and started to question things. This
also brought about a severe improvements in the standard of living of the people. Hence
the phrase is also almost always used in a positive way, that is, to think about something
in order to improve it.
