Introduction

The introduction of cracks in concrete is a common phenomenon caused

by relatively low tensile resistance. High tensile stress in concrete is
generated by external loads, the decline of origin differentially shrinking
the melody, and the distortions of the plasticity and thermal effects,
where immediate and appropriate treatment must be carried out in order
to prevent the exacerbation of cracks that may be Treated after a costly
period, and in order to repair the cracks, a variety of traditional repair
systems have been proposed. These systems are mostly suffering from a
number of drawbacks, most notably the difference in thermal expansion
coefficients between repair materials and cracked concrete as in the form
of (1), and they may sometimes have an environmental and health
airport, and the idea of benefiting from bacteria that work to deposit
calcium carbonate as an alternative to these systems in repair in addition
to this method is characterized by being environmentally friendly.
Microbial mineral deposition as a result of appropriate bacteria metabolic
activities has been found to improve the overall behavior of concrete. It
is expected that the development of these techniques will lead to more
durable and sustainable concrete and the production of crack-free
concrete that can be widely used in facilities constructed in wet structures
such as water and underground facilities and facilities constructed in rain
areas, which is one of the most important problems and affects the
protection of concrete and its permeability and tolerance.

Definition

The definition of self-healing concrete (Shael 2) is a new generation of

concrete that is based on the production and microbiological deposition
of limestone (CaCO3 by a special type of bacteria when exposed to
water and air, which earns the concrete self-recourse to repair and
treat small cracks without any human external interference) that this
type of concrete is still in development and research is still focused on
how to achieve the appropriate conditions within the concrete mixture
that allows bacteria to produce as much as possible of limestone, as
well as the extent The effect of brother factors
