Cyber Security Components and Prevention

Abstract:
Social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter provides user with
benefits such as faster communication, updates, information and awareness about
various topics and news trending around the globe. Nowadays, it’s helping users to
spread awareness and raise their voices on important issues and problems our
society is facing such as child trafficking, abuse and the violence women facing on
daily basis. On the other hand, social media has its negative black side too. The
information which is shared on these systems can be false and may contain virus
which further leads to loss of personal data. Moreover, the privacy of users is also
not safe at all. Securing information over social media systems has become one the
biggest challenge. “Cybercrimes” are also increasing day by day. The main goals
of this paper is to examine cyber security in depth and how various factors would
affect the behavior to implement cyber security. In this paper we will discuss the
benefits of OPNET, cyber security and how users would be provided the
opportunities to secure their valuable data with strong passwords and protection
and also prevention against hackers’ attacks.

Introduction:
Today, life can hardly be imagined without information technology and social
networks; more than half of the world’s population (58.8%) is using the Internet.
According to a report compiled by Ratel in Serbia, 99.2 % of those aged between
16 and 24 use computers and 98.2% use the Internet every day or almost every day
[1]. Recent technological development had a great impact on people’s lifestyles.
However, there is also a dark side to this trend; Security incidents and attacks are
continuously expanding, and are becoming complicated and more severe. [2].
Cyber security is the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices,
electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks and hackers. It's also
known as information technology security or electronic information security
[3].cyber security is applied in a lot of ways, from business to social networking,
and can be divided into a few common categories like Network Security,
Application Security, Information Security and operational Security and data
Security. It is the protection of internet-connected systems such as hardware,
software and data from cyber-threats [4]. The system is used by individuals to
protect them against unauthorized access to data systems and other computerized
systems in a particular company.
A successful cyber security approach has multiple layers of protection spread
across the computers networks systems, programs, or data that one tries to keep
safe and malicious free. In an organization, the people, processes, and designed
technology systems must help one another to create an effective and strong defense
against cyber-attacks [5]. Organizations must have a strong framework for how
they deal with attacks and threats. Strong Framework can be used by a company to
defend themselves, It explains how you can identify attacks, protect systems and
data, detect and immediate response to threats, and recovery from these attacks [6].
In today’s connected world, everyone benefits from advanced cyber defense
programs which are conducted to fight against cyber-attacks. At an
individual/company level, a cyber-security attack can result in everything from
identifying theft, to demanding money or valuable things as a threat, to the loss of
important data like family photos, videos, chats and other personal information
which is related to one or few persons only. Securing these and other organizations
is essential to keep our society functioning peacefully where everyone feel secure.
The aim of implementing cyber security system is to provide an efficient security
platform for computers, servers, users, networks, mobile devices and the data
stored on these devices from attackers and hackers with malicious intent and
threats. [7].The Figure 1 shows that we should always be aware of cyber security
threats like developing protection plan against any vulnerabilities, we should be
able to identify threats and establish contingency plans to remove those threats,
develop a strong system which will respond to cyber security incidents properly.
There should be risk exposure to defend threats. The diagram below highlights
major cyber security awareness steps to ensure strong protection against malicious
intent and hackers.
