Advanced Instructional Strategies in a Virtual Classroom

Week- 3
Write a community engagement plan

Strategy 1: Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) is a powerful tool that pairs

students with peers internationally for dialogue around salient, course-related issues. In light
of the global reach of this pandemic, it can also be utilized to bring students together for
reflection and discussion about how the current crisis is affecting service and immersion
issues in diverse settings.

Strategy 2: Leverage the internet to expand the localized scope of the community-engaged

work to working in a global community. Learnings from global communities can be
benchmarked and shared with a local partner to heighten or benefit existing community
outcomes and demonstrate the connectivity of issues and problem-solving strategies to
students.  For example, have students identify global nonprofit, NGO, or community facing
similar issues (employment, safety, literacy, youth engagement and mentoring, health
conditions, and environment).

Reasons for choosing Strategy 1: This strategy aims at developing insightful thoughts
among students and brings an awareness among students about handling life in tough
situations. It helps learners to develop a holistic view of life.

Reasons for choosing Strategy 2: This strategy can be practiced to explore the ways in
which certain issues and challenges handled by global communities. The learnings can be
implemented in improving the practices of the local community bodies.

Alignment Strategy 1: These strategies are suggested for B.B.A Students with a view to
enhance their leadership skills. Collaborating with their peers online helps them to develop a
global perspective.

Alignment Strategy 2: This strategy is recommended for Management undergraduates as a

part of ULC. As part of this ULC course, students are required to visit an NGO on weekly
basis. At the end of the course, they are expected to submit a report on their learnings.
