Leadership Goals:
1. Develop a science curriculum that is engaging and interactive while also being
accessible to all students.
1. Short Term Objective: Ensure at least one project or lab for each unit by the start
of school next year.
1. Rationale: Fits with NGSS and helps engage students in a creative way.
ii. Long Term Objective: Each project and/or lab will include an inquiry component
and analysis component
i. Rationale: Fits with NGSS and makes projects and labs more meaningful
and more of a learning tool than just something fun and engaging to do.
i. Evidence: https://www.aft.org/enhancing-student-engagement-project-learning
ii. NBPTS: Proposition 2 - Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach
those subjects to students
iii. TLMD: Domain 4 - Facilitates improvements in instruction and student learning
iv. Inquiry: I will develop at least 1 inquiry based project for my Biology students this
semester.
b.  Be a mentor teacher for new teachers that are hired at my school.
a. Short Term Objective: Finish this class so I can have my clear credential and
qualify as a mentor teacher.
i. Rationale: I can’t be an official mentor teacher without my clear credential
b. Long Term Objective: Always have at least one teacher that I am mentoring each
school year.
i. Rationale: If I want to be a good mentor, I need the experience and
practice.

d. NBPTS: Proposition 5 - Teachers are members of learning communities
e. TLMD: Domain 3 - Promotes professional learning for continuous improvement.
Domain 1 - Fosters a collaborative culture to support educator development and
student learning.
c. Implement better tools for assessing student learning.
a. Short Term Objective: Create a unit project for my Conceptual Physics class that
could be used as a summative assessment.
i. Rationale: Projects are more engaging and less structured/intimidating
than unit tests
b. Long Term Objective: Have as many projects to be used as summative
assessments as possible and move away from traditional testing methods.
i. Rationale: Summative projects will give a chance for students to
demonstrate their learning in creative and engaging ways instead of just
answering questions.
c. Evidence: https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/7691
d. NBPTS: Proposition 3 - Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring
student learning.
