year, I sit down with my
admin team and set
specific goals for the
upcoming year. At the
end of each semester, we
meet and take a look at
the goals I set and what
progress I am making
towards achieving those
goals. We also look to see
if new goals should be set

or if existing goals should
be modified. At the end of
each semester all
teachers complete a self-
assessment based on
CSTP and schoolwide
standards and goals and
are also given feedback
based on classroom
observations from our
admin team. With
everything this year
being new and different,
we have also been
checking in with our
admin team more often
regarding our goals and
seeing how things are
going and if there are any
new supports we may
need.

Every Monday we have

professional
development time where
we sit as a faculty and
admin team to discuss
various aspects of our
school, our teaching, and
our students. The goal of
these meetings is always
student-centered and
aims to help us teachers
grow as educators.

6.4 Working with

Distance learning and
families to support Covid protocols has
student learning areally made it difficult to
get parents and the
community involved in
the process of learning.
That being said, we still
put on our Exhibition of
Learning, albeit on Zoom
instead of in person. It
was nice to see families
show up and engage in
the learning process and
with the students even if
it was just over a screen.

communication, we use
Parent Square for our
home communications.
The cool thing about that
is it automatically
translates any message
you send out into the
language that the parents
or guardians select as
their primary language.
This helps bridge the
language gap as we try to
communicate with a
diverse community. That
being said, I am not great
at communicating with
parents and need to be
more intentional about
sending communications
more regularly.

I take pride in my
advanced planning and
forethought. I always try
to think a few steps
ahead in terms of what
might go wrong. This has
been increasingly
difficult in the age of
Covid. None of us were
really prepared, as much
as we tried to be, for all
the obstacles that
distance learning would
present. When there is no
real precedent to follow,
you just need to try
things and roll with the
punches. Planning is
important, but even more
important right now is
being able to adapt and
be flexible.

I’m lucky that my school

values creative teaching. I
have the autonomy to try
new things and be
creative in my teaching.
Sometimes my ideas
don’t work like I would
hope, but at least I have
the freedom to try.

I’m really not sure what to put here as evidence. I take my job as an educator
seriously as well as the health and safety of my students. I’m a strong advocate for
my students and work hard to make sure they feel safe in my classroom at my
school.
