Carbon Capture Survey Results

○ Cool idea, but make it so it doesn’t affect the sound or performance of the
vehicle.
Reflection:

➔ Almost all of the people who took the survey said they cared about the environment.
More than three fourths of the people have made a change in their lifestyle for the
benefit of the environment. This tells us that people care and might be willing to make an
investment in a solution that could help the environment.

➔ 92% of the people reported that their main way of transportation was by car. Again, 92%
of the people said their car is gasoline powered. These questions give us information
about how people travel to gage what product would be the most used. Almost all of
them drive gasoline powered cars as their main transportation. Our car exhaust filter
would be most used and needed according to our data.

➔ Under three fourths of the people take their cars into an auto shop to get their cars fixed.
This tells us that our product has to be user friendly or available at auto shops for
consumers to easily bring it in to be replaced.

➔ 65% of the people surveyed said their car noise is not too loud but not too quiet. Our
product could have an attachable muffler piece if desired to reach out to more
customers. The carbon dioxide filter and muffler could be separate but still be put on
together. Only 19% of the people said they have a custom exhaust system so the rest
wouldn’t need a muffler, but it is still available if needed.

➔ A little over half are willing to sacrifice the look of their car but the other half wouldn’t or
didn’t know. This tells us that to appeal to more people, the looks of the car shouldn’t be
too modified due to our product.

➔ Some questions that were brought up were about the cost and effect our product would
have on performance or sound. It is important that we make this product as accessible
and affordable as possible so everyone can use it. It is important to our customers for
the product to be fair in cost and performance. Also the product shouldn't affect the
performance of the car because the filter would be using the exhaust of the car after it
has been burned. The muffler part of our design should be optional due to the fact that
some people want their cars to be louder or they are fine with the one they already have.
Going forwards we know that the cost and effect on performance are important to our
customers and should be accounted for.

Demand and Wishlist Modification:

Initial Document
Modified Document
Initially:
● From the beginning we wanted to focus on a larger scale carbon capture technology that
would mostly be used in factories or big power plants. We planned on figuring out a way
to create something from the leftover carbon dioxide because the most common way is
storing it underground.
● We were very broad with our product but had a general idea of using some kind of
carbon capture technology to reduce the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere.
● Large scale was our first idea. Investors, large power plants, and gasoline companies
were our main target. Our list of design specifications were also very different because
we were looking at a large scale.

Now:
● From looking at the survey results, we have now chosen to scale back and focus on a
smaller version of carbon capture for vehicles. One that would be affordable and
accessible. Narrowing it down makes it possible to create a prototype of some sort since
before it would have been some sort of theory.
● Our customers have changed a tad to the public mostly in a sense and investors, since
our product has changed from large to small scale it could be affordable to public
● The design specifications are focused on being smaller and more affordable for people
around the world.
