Introduction:
Control chart is a graph we use for any process. if a process is out of control we define its limits
and makes it in control. The control chart is a graph used to study how a process changes over
time. Data are plotted in time order. A control chart always has a central line for the average, an
upper line for the upper control limit and a lower line for the lower control limit. These lines are
determined from historical data. An Xbar-S chart is a combination of control charts used to
monitor the process variability and average when measuring subgroups at regular intervals from
a process. An Xbar-R chart is a combination of control charts used to monitor the process
variability and average when measuring subgroups at regular intervals from a process.
Objectives:
The objective of this lab is to construct xbar-r and xbar-s chart for a given data using Minitab.
Procedure:
First of all Open Minitab and type all the data in the columns as shown in figure 1.
Figure 1
Click on stats>control charts>variables charts for subgroups>xbar-R chart then a window will
appear as in figure 2 and 3.
Figure 1 Figure 3
In figure 3 select the columns of subgroups as the subgroups are in different columns
then press OK the xbar-R chart will appear as shown in figure 4.
Figure 2
Now the method for the xbar-S chart the method is same but in figure 2 select the xbar-S chart
than the window will shown as in figure 4 and 5.

CONCLUSION:
In this lab we construct different chart and know the behavior of chart.
