Definition: Relations among the nations. Relations among nations in all spheres of
interaction, these interactions can be economic, religious, political, socia, military,
environmental etc.. kuch mulkoun k sath saare interactions hoskte hn, kuch mulkoun
k sath kisi kisi sphere mein interact hoskta hai.. Point of interaction can be either
cooperation, conflict or competition. Eg. Conflict bw pak and india.
Kisi ek country k sath cooperation hoskta hai, sath competition aur conflict bh kisi
chez mein…. Why they cooperate, fight and compete each other? Because of national
interest.
There is no free lunch in IR.
Narrow view: In IR it is related to .. It will be between two nations. (Realism)
Broader: it is not only state actors but none state actors are involved in IR.
None state actors: Any entity which is individual, organization, firm, pressure group,
media etc. which is having enough influence between two countries.

Scope of IR was narrow like to history, geography, political science and now it is
expanding like economics, ideologies, organizations, individuals (like trump)
(leadership), Media, psychology, sports,technology, physical sciences, international
law
IR is multidisciplinary subject, it evolved with the passage of time.

Significance: it helps states to develop/design the foreign policy.It ensures how to

have national interest. Conflict and cooperation.. talks about war and peace.. alliance
significance, how far states interactions matter.
