GUIDE QUESTIONS:

1. In what way was the movie applicable to practical adver life?

The movie was applicable to the advertising life in a way that its setting is an advertising
agency, to what happens within the agency, how the advertisements are made and how similar
plates are from school and in the actual agency, the professors are our client and we are the
creative directors, we could either be Nick Marshall or Darcy Maguire, I was also able to have a
glimpse on the employees of the outputs, like posters, storyboards and advertising commercials.
It also gave me an idea on somehow the process and the personnel within the advertising
agency.

2. What are key takeaways you had on the movie?

The key takeaways I had during the movie were to know what the key market wants,
knowing your customers well in order for the product to sell, like when Nick has the power to
hear women he heard their thoughts in regards to the Nike commercial Darcy was focused on,
in the back of my head, it really is to have the goal on what the market wants, but is hard to apply
on what to do so that is why is to have a creative mindset, when Darcy was thinking of how the
commercial of Nike would be “No game, just sports” it also made me have this being imaginative
on how we see the commercial through our thoughts and how we would advertise our product
or brand for our target market. Next is, know what or how the market feels about the product
knowing that there are other consumers who have a unique sense of taste, that there are some
who would want to use the product and there are some who do not, you cannot satisfy everyone
similar to the meeting when Nick discovered his powers, he heard the thought of one of the
employees about the Advil drug and thought about it and you could see the shocked reaction of
the employee. Next is understanding the flow of the market, the market tends to evolve, in the
introduction of the movie that is why Nick was getting replaced was due to the market somehow
being overrun by the female gender, where in alcohol and tobacco were not much on sale on
the market compared to the previous years. Lastly is competition, there is not only one agency
aiming for the top but several agencies, where they would want to hire the best employee for
them to reach the top, aside from earning more but to get companies to approach them to
advertise their brand or product.

3. Give at least three consumer insights that the lead character had on the market.
The three consumer insights were the inspirational insight, how the character feels about
the product and how he innovated and thought of something with the lipstick, and how he tried
the other feminine products, thinking on how these could be sold to the market, on how these
could get the market’s attention. Next is the emotional insight in where he thought of what the
consumer would feel when using the product, when Nick tried the honey wax, and he commented
on the stockings but later realized that these were essential at that time for women. Lastly is the
Intensity insight, on the level of satisfaction with the brand or product promises, which is essential
in the advertising firm, when Nick and Darcy were thinking in the Nike commercial.
