Stator shaft bushing P/N 6836272 has been superceded by bushing P/N 23015807. Former bushing, P/N 6836272, is a pre-
bored bushing and will continue to be used as a service bushing in the AT sun gear shaft only. Current stator shaft bushing,
P/N 23015807, will require machining of the inside diameter (I.D.) after installation. Stator shaft bushing runout must be
measured when replacing bushing and/or stator shaft.
Replace complete front support assembly with PIN 23014020 if unable mat hine measure bushing
runout.
Disassembly
Remove stator shaft bushing, being careful not to damage stator shaft I.D.
Inspection
Inspect shaft for cracks between splines. Inspect shaft I.D. for scoring and metal transfer. Cracks and excessive scoring will
require shaft replacement.
Assembly
Coat bushing O.D. with Loctite 601 sleeve retainer or equivalent. Install bushing P/N 23015807 into the stator shaft using
J-23614-A. Remove excess seal retainer from shaft housing. See Figure 1 for specific depth and minimum press-in force.
Machining
Bore bushing I.D. to dimension and micro-finish shown in Figure I. Bushing runout must fall within total runout as specified
by H.
P/N 6836272 bushing will continue to be available for servicing the AT sun gear shaft P/N 6835938.
Bushing P/N 23015807 supercedes bushing P/N 6836272 as the stator shaft bushing.
Refer to S.I.L. 16-TR-81, Rev. A for additional information on stator shaft replacement.
