ACTIVITY 1 – WEEK 4
The style of dance I chose is the Tango dance, it is a
type of social dance and a famous partner dance,
Style of Dance used evolved about 1880, with dramatic flair, using
stalking and sneaking walking characteristics that
separate it from other dancing styles.
Its choreographic form is sequential and patterned,
specifically Theme and Variation - a choreographic
form that starts with an original movement idea
that is repeated with various modifications while
still maintaining its structure and sequence,
resulting in an A-A1-A2-A3 pattern. The theme may

be repeated between variations (A-A1-A-A2-A-A3).
As seen from the dance steps, it all start with an
original movement, which is step forward for men
and step back for women, with variations after the
original step. Moreover, it has a basic pattern of
step-step-step-close in 2/4 time.

a. Step forward with your left foot (M)

b. Step forward with your right foot passing the left

c. Step forward again with your left foot this time

The Tango dance typically presents romantic and

intimate emotions from the dancers and the
audience, also. As you watch the whole
performance, you can feel the room heating upas
the dances tastefully dance around the ball room.
With its fast and suddenly slow movements, it
really releases the excitement and agitation of the
Emotions Description audience and dancers, when considering the
woman as the lead of the performance, she is the
one being showcased with such emotions as the
man moves her around. In a nutshell, it screamed
romance where we open ourselves to the
experience, we may feel intense feelings of
connection, attraction, even love for a partner to
whom we may never have spoken.

ACTIVITY 2

1. As one of the famous dances in the world, we

may not know that tango is quite
controversial issue from Argentina due to the
fact that it began as a pantomime of
communication between prostitute and pimp,
filled with sexual choreography. Also, it was
favored only to the lower and rich class
across the globe before when it transpired.

LEARNINGS AND 2. Partnered with the music, I knew that Tango

BENEFITS is not just a dance, it is also a type of music.
To discuss further, tango music comes from a
mixture of cultural influences from Africa,
India, France, Spain, and generally, the Latin
America. Modernized tango may be divided
into to flavors, which are the Melodic
Argentinian style and the rhymical European
style.

3. As applied to other dances, dancing Tango

can really boost your system and can really

burn a lot of fat as it requires coordination
with the feet and fast movements. It helps the
legs and arms to be toned and makes you
less prone from diseases or illnesses. Dancing
this would truly help’s one boost their holistic
health, not just physically, but also mentally,
in terms of having more self-confidence on
one’s body and discovering new hobbies and
talents to be proud of.

4. As a social dance, you would meet a lot of

partners and dancers when you spend your
time dancing. It is a nice way to meet new
people as friends with such talent and maybe,
with its past history and emotions shown, it
could also lead to sudden and intimate
relationships. I learned and realized that when
dancing, some partners don’t know one
another, but they have to present their
emotions when dancing. Due to this, it forms a
sexual and intimate connection that could turn
into connection and love among the opposite
sex.

5. As a person who doesn’t have a vast knowledge

about dance, I still get confused on these types
of dances, but when I saw the performances
and videos from DanceSport. I have gained a
lot of insights and a wider outlook on these.
When I watched Cha Cha Cha on Week 1, I
noticed that the costumes of women are quite
short and body-fitting all throughout. In tango,
women dancers wear a long skirt dress that
have asymmetrical hemlines and many of them
with various adornments on fringes and
crochet. Some of them have open tops to show
cleavage. For men, their shirt is normally silk
and straight cut trousers. Additionally, dance
shoes and accessories such as suspenders,
vests, and hats, can be worn by men.
