Objective: To determine the various performance characteristics of the Reciprocating pump.

Equipment used: Reciprocating pump assembly, stopwatch, tachometer, pressure gauges,

DC motor

Assumptions: There is no pressure head loss at pipe surfaces or pipe bends.

Water behaves like an ideal fluid and doesn’t compress or change physical properties during the
experiment.

Precautions: Ensure no parallax error while reading the water level of the measuring tank.
Ensure that the stopwatch is started with the least amount of lag to ensure accurate timings.
