PROCRASTINATION

I will just do my PETA the night before the deadline. We have a test, but it’s still on our
last subject, so I’ll just study during lunchtime. Our teacher was absent but she left us a
seatwork to be passed during dismissal time, so I’ll just do it during dismissal time. My
mother is letting me to wash the dishes, but I’m watching my favorite series so I’ll wash it
later.

Can you relate with those lines I’ve said before? If it is, congratulations! You are a
certified procrastinator! To my honorable folks of the procrastinator team, a pleasant and
lazy afternoon to all of you. I am _______ and I’m here to welcome you to the world of
procrastination!

The word “later” is the most common thing that you could here to a procrastinator. I
believe that every one in this classroom has already experience procrastinating, but the
thing is, can we prevent procrastination? If it is, what are the ways that could help an
individual to prevent it? Is it really normal to our daily living? Do you believe that if you
are a procrastinator, you are also considered lazy? Let us know all the meanings behind
it as I elaborate further details about procrastination.

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, procrastinate means to “put off intentionally

the doing of something that should be done.” While according to Oxford Dictionary,
procrastination means “delaying or postponing something.” So why do you think we are
delaying or postponing something that should be done? Here are three common reasons
why we procrastinate:

Number 1, you are focusing more on the things that you want rather than your needs.
Number 2, overthinking causes you to delay actions. Lastly, number 3, you lack
motivation in doing the task because you don’t want to do it.

These reasons are efficient for a procrastinator and as a result, they will enter the world
of cramming. Procrastination and cramming are both meant for each other. Delaying
tasks will come up from cramming it when deadline comes. So it’s better to learn these 3
tricks to prevent procrastination:

Number 1, time management. Number 2, practice regulating your emotions. Lastly,

number 3, being productive is the key to success. Set your goals by making a to-do list
for you to have an easier way to finish the tasks. Start achieving those tasks that is
easier and less time to do for you to have many accomplishments within the day.

Now that you’ve known the tricks, you may apply this for the following weeks since it is
the “Quizzes and PETAs week” again. It’s time to make your life a new beginning and
start being productive in every perspective.

Let me share to you a quote by Abraham Lincoln, “You cannot escape the responsibility
of tomorrow by evading it today.” This ends my speech, as I’ll leave this all to you: “LIVE
NOW, DO NOW!” Thank you and God bless.
