WORKSHEET

PARTICULATE AIR POLLUTION

Data Table:

Home Address: 611 canelar moret, Zamboanga city

Approximate Distance of road nearest to residence: 50 meters

Designated Area Pictures Observation

1) Bedroom As what I can with the outcome,

there are some dust that have
sticked to the prepared setup which
is placed in the bedroom.
2

2) Living room As what I can observed with the

outcome, there is no any changes
with the prepared setup that is
placed in the living room.

3) Roadside As what I can observed with

outcome, the prepared set up which
is placed along the roadside
contains so many small particles of
dust, small rocks, small fly ash, and
smoke. As you can see, the dark
pink border turned into light pink
and the transparent plastic turned
into grayish.

GUIDE QUESTIONS

1. Compare the particulate air pollutant that you have collected. Is the appearance of the
particulates collected in each designated area the same or not? If so give reasons
according to your observed data.

In the observed data, as what I can see is that, the appearance for the bedroom setup had
some changes, it collected some dusts. For the living room, it doesn’t have any changes.
Whereas, for the roadside setup, it did change its appearance specifically the color of the
transparent plastic, and it collected a lot of air pollutants such as dust, small rocks, small fly ash,
and smoke.
The appearance of the particulates collected in each designated area are not the same as you
can see, the appearance in the living room doesn’t change which means that the air circulating in
that place is clean, for the bedroom, it changed because of the dust collected. And for the
roadside setup, it did changed its appearance, which means that the roadside is major source of
air pollution.

2. Which areas had the highest pollution? How different is it from the other areas?

In the observed data, as what I can observed, the highest pollution area is the roadside, simply
because it is expose to the different vehicles that producing significant amounts of nitrogen
oxides, carbon monoxide, and other pollution. The second highest pollution area, is the bedroom,
because it collected some dust and the lowest pollution area in my place is

3. Are there similarities observed in the different areas. What could be the reason for this?

There are some similarities observed in the different areas specifically the bedroom setup which
contains some dust and also the roadside which contains a lot of air pollutants especially some
dust. The reason for this is that, the air circulating in our environment may contain a lot of air
pollutants that cannot be avoided by the transparent plastic and it means that our air is not clean.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the particulate air pollutant collected in each area contains a lot of dust, small
particles of rocks, small fly ash, and smoke. The different areas with the prepared setup have
similarities, one of which, is the prepared setup in the roadside and in the bedroom. In totality,
Much is being done to control, monitor and rectify damage done by pollutants. The problems are
diverse and some are only being recognised but it is important to keep a close control over
pollutants so that we can maintain the environment in an acceptable condition for future
generations.
