REC CENTRE >< SOUP KITCHEN : PEOPLE UNDER ONE ROOF.

Materials
LVL Panels
LVL (laminated veneer lumber) panels are made of cross-bonded
LVL, meaning that one fifth of the veneers are glued crosswise.
Roof Details
Strong and rigid LVL panels are dimensionally stable, they do not
warp or twist. LVL panels provide great workability, they are easy
to fasten, nail and drill.
LVL Q-panel is a load-bearing, bracing and dimensionally stable
material.
Insulated glass Curtain Walls
Non load bearing element.
Heating,daylighting,visual connectivity.

Due to inclination of the side faces of the joint, resistance to

A shell of rhomboid panels connected by dovetail joints forms

the shell/roof of the structure.

COMMUNICATING IDEAS : DIGITAL V/S ANALOGICAL
Initial ideas
Conceptualisation Sketching is an ideal tool for forming ideas. It is most effective in

the initial stages of the design as it allows you to take complete
control. Moreover it is convenient to carry and use a drawing
pad to conceptualize a design and form alternatives while on site
whereas digital drawing/design software is more suited to the

precision and clarity that is required at the later stages of the
project.

Digital drawings are especially important to produce accurate

technical drawings to scale.
Design softwares make the modelling of a project easier and
gives us a preview of the structure.
These models help us to alter the form, play with the light,
texture etc. and produce a “feel” of the place.

The real challenge is to translate your initial hand drawn

concepts to digital drawings that can communicate your ideas

well.
I think it is safe to say a combination of both skills are essential!
