explain you guys are going to do this at your tables and you're going to
the look through the magazines and newspapers that you brought and
craft cut out all of the different pieces of red that you can find. Make
sure that as you cut out the red pieces you are putting them
somewhere safe so that you don’t lose them. Then we are going
to glue some of our red pieces into these circles, don’t worry about
covering up the circles because I drew them on the back as well so
that you can see it to cut it out. Make sure, this is really important
grade one’s, make sure that you are only glueing pieces onto one
side. when we’re cutting things out from our magazines if you find
a really big piece of red you can cut it out, but make sure that you
cut it into a few smaller pieces before you glue them on so that it’s
not all just one huge piece across the whole berry because will that
look nice? no
For the bubble painting on the leaves I’m going to bring you back

my own to explain what we are doing. Ask them, what do you
think will happen if you blow lots of bubbles to make it spill over?
it will get messy, so should we do that? no. If you guys do that I’m
going to take it away and I don’t want to do that because I want
you to all make really beautiful art!

find pieces of red paper to cut out.
5 min Review of Key Concepts/Point to Next Class: Ask them if they have
a holiday tradition that they just love, let three of them share their
favourite holiday traditions with the class, pick the quietest people
with their hands up.
Stage 4: Reflection
I think that this lesson went well, about 5 out of 14 students finished in the time given and
there were a few that needed time the following monday to finish up their holly. The
students who finished early just started to help cut out red pieces for the students who didn’t
finish up so that gave them something to do as they finished. The bubbles were a lot of fun,
the students loved it, I picked the stronger group to start to test it out which ended up being a
good choice because even though I had tested the bubbles the night before, it wasn’t working
for the students. We trouble shot and tried a few different things out and it ended up
working better with dish soap and a little bit of water. Once it started working the students
were super excited and the craft turned out to be really fun and I think that the objectives
were hit in a way that engaged the students.
