Section 1: From beginning to great disappointment.
The film begins with the life of William Miller. He is a formally uneducated farmer
who draws in to find the truth about life. His willingness and being in love reading the
bible leads him to the conclusion that Christ will return sometime around the year
1843/1844. Through his study of the Bible, he comes to the verse of the book of Daniel
that tells the cleansing of the sanctuary. This surprising discovery brings them together
with Joshua V. Himes to an increasing acceptance of the teaching. I can see his
struggles how to preach what he discovers, it is not simple to share that you know
when is the end of the world especially the source of information that tie is just
publication. Also dealing with and convincing other people about his teaching is very
hard at that time. But I can say that William Miller has a great dedication in his life and
to the lord that he will do whatever the father wants him to do.
Section 2: the great disappointment itself

Section 3: aftermath of the great disappointment and the rise of the
Sabbatarian movement
Ellen Harmon White, James White, and Joseph Bates chiefly follow this film, thus
discovering forgotten Biblical truths such as the two-phase ministry of Christ in the
celestial sanctuary, the seventh-day Sabbath, and the gift of prophecy. Ellen Harmon
White was used by God to be a bridge and to obtain a new beginning. Her guidance
and advice, obtained through Bible studies, as well as dreams and visions revealed by
God, guided the steps of the Church in becoming a worldwide movement of compassion
in the areas of health, education, community development, and relief. As a result of
several Bible conferences and earnest prayer, this group of former Millerites, soon
become known as the Seventh-day Adventist church. It’s great to know that even they
experience disappointment, there are few of them did not lose hope, they remained
faithful to God, the eagerness to discover God’s providence becomes more concise and
precise.
Section 4: Biblical critique on the biblical basis of Sabbatarian group’s
interpretation of the sanctuary belief, the Sabbath, gift of prophecy and
others.
These early Adventists' great derision should be remembered after their Millerite
predictions didn’t come true. It is under the weight of such burdens and a return to
bible study and prayer. Their prediction of time is indeed right but the mistake is that
they misunderstood the meaning of Daniel 8:14. They thought that it is the cleansing of
the earthly sanctuary, but they found out that it is the heavenly sanctuary. Jesus
entered the second and final step of his atoning ministry in 1844, at the close of the
prophetic era of 2300 days, which was typified by the work of the high priest in the
holiest place of the earthly sanctuary. It is a work of investigative judgment that is part
of the ultimate disposition of all sin, typified on the Day of Atonement by the cleansing
of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary.
It is essential to know Adventist history, to know the pathos, and the conflict
story of the beginnings of our church. The story of our founders brings hope and
inspiration that all happens for a reason. In their earnest search for truth, you can see
how God guided and motivated them. We can see God’s comfort calling Ellen Harmon,
a young lady, to do a special job of leading the fledgling church. God promises that He
heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Mistakes are to
gain, we encounter setbacks and failure and thus feel sorrow and pain, but God will
heal the pain in our heart, and guide us to cast off hardship. We just Commit your way
to the LORD; trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass (Psalms 37:5).
