Atmosphere or circumstances context environs locality milieu situation surroundings. As per LEGAL
THESAURUS

AMERICAN HERITAGE DICTIONARY OF SCIENCE - Environment means all surrounding things, conditions,
and influences affecting the development of living things

US COUNCIL ON ENVIRONMENT QUALITY - Environment means man's total environmental system not
only the biosphere but also his interactions with his natural and man made surroundings

Section 2(a) which reads that environment includes water, air, land, and the relationship that it is among
and between water, air, and land and other human beings, other living creatures, plants,
microorganisms and the property

SC says environment is a broad spectrum which brings into it's ambit hygienic atmosphere and
ecological balance.

Pollution is defined under section 2(d). Environment pollutant means any solid, liquid, or gaseous
substances present in such a concentration as maybe or tend to be injurious to environment.

Environment pollution is defined in 2(c) of EP act. The presence in the environment of any environment
pollutants.

Components of environment includes water air and land. Water in any place. Air, land (under and
above) forest and minerals. To include as components of environment other species or creatures, land,
microorganisms and the property are also part of environment.
