ROLE RESPONSIBILTY

Steel Fitter Chargehand  To provide all workers a safe working environment, and that all hot work
permits, and confined space permits, are updated daily.

 To ensure all areas of proposed hot work are properly marked for
removal of any coatings of which may be in way of any hot work.

 To communicate any set up, and or chipping requirements, required from


the labour department to the labour dept and steel superintendent.

 Steel fitter charge hand will escort any third-party inspectors for any fit-
up inspections. Steel superintendent shall organize third party inspection
attendance.

 Communicate with workers regarding any safety issues and the


importance of ppe. If there are any issues of which the charge hand is not
able to deal with, the charge hand shall contact the steel superintendent.
If there is an emergency safety shall be called first.

 All charge hands must cooperate with other workers and encourage a
good attitude while working in the yard.
Welding Charge Hand  To provide all workers a safe working environment, and that all hot work
permits, and confined space permits, are updated daily.

 To ensure all required welding gear is appropriately set up to expedite


progression of proposed steel work.

 Welder charge hand will escort any third-party inspectors for any final
welding inspections. Steel superintendent shall organize third party
inspection attendance and any NDE requirements.

 Communicate with workers regarding any safety issues and the


importance of ppe. If there are any issues of which the charge hand is not
able to deal with, the charge hand shall contact the steel superintendent.
If there is an emergency safety shall be called first.

 All charge hands must cooperate with other workers and encourage a
good attitude while working in the yard.
