Attention !

The various inputs and outputs listed are provided only upon request. The exact cost- depending
equipment of the safety system can be seen in delivery documents( see 9-A-XXXX-XXX) .

3. Fnction of the Safety System

The safety system consists of electronic and electromechanic assemblies which, on commands
of the signal transmitters, stop the Diesel engines, reduce the pitch of the VP propeller, and
block the start.

The safety system is protected against polarity change of the power spply. ALL tests can be
carried out with stopped or running engine .
3.1. Start Blocking

The start blocking of the safety system can be connected to for sinal transmitter . When one
signal transmitter is activated, the start blocking valve is excited and hus blocks he start of the
engine. The start blocking is also acctie rig a manual or utomati engine so.

Attention!

The start blocking input A 2.1 is only active for N < nmin when the engine is stopped. The signal
transmitters for “PROPELLER PITCH=O” or “COUPLING ON” are to be connected to this input.

3.2 Reduction

The reduction of safety system can be connected to eight limit value transmitters. If the limiting
value of one signal transmitter is exceeded, a potential-free relay contact is activated and the VP
propeller system reduces command is stored and is manually deleted by pressing the
illuminated key “CANCELLATION REDUCTION” after the failure has been repaired.

3,3 Automatic Enine Stop

The auto matic engine stop of the safety system can be connected to four limit value
transmitters. When the limit value of one signal transmitter is exceeded, the engine is stopped
by the activation of the stop module. Pressing the illuminated key “CANCELLATION STOP” after
the failure has been repaired.

3.4 Manual Engine Stop

The manual engine stop of safety system can be conneted to for illuminated “EMERGENCY
STOP” keys. When one key is briefly presse, the engine is stopped by swiching the stop module
to the power supply of the manual engine stop. The stop command is stored and manual engine
by pressing the illuminated key “CANCELLATION STOP” after the failure has been reaired.

3.5 Engine deceleration (braking)

If the criteria “Stop Position” of regulating shaft and relase of automatic or manual engine stop
have been met, the engine brake will become effective for an adjustable period (A 11/1-65 s) .

The time is set to 5 sin factory .

3.6 Emergency Operation (Override)

An override is possible for the inputs of the safety system with special programming of the PCB
9.01.7-94.01.00-11 and if a switch is connected. The programming is provided by by the
manufacturer and is to be coordinated with the supplier of the safety system.

4. Plug – In PCBs

A11 PCBs of the safety system are in the Europa format 100 x 160 mm. To prevent confusion of
the various PCB type , each PCB is provided with individual coding strips.

4.1 PCB 9.01.7-93.11.00-03

The PCB is used as short – circuit protection of electric systems. The assembly contains two
circuit breakers ( 1 = 6 Amp . , 2 = 2 Amp . ) with imdicating diodes and indicating relay which are
activated when the circuit breakers are activate.

4.2 PCB 9.01.7-93.11.00.0-4

The PCB 9.01.7-93.11.00-03 but with only one circuit breaker (2 Amp) .

4.3 PCB 9.01.7-93.01.00-08

The PCB is used to monitor wiring breaks of binary signal transmitters. A maximum of four signal
transmitters for each PCB is possible.

If a wiring break occurs in the connection wire of a signal transmitter , the collective alarm “
SAFETY SYSTEM FAILURE” is activated. Todifferentiate the alarms, one yellow LED is provided on
the front plate of the PCB for each monitoring circuit. By pressing the key “TEST” on the front
plate of the PCB , a function test can be carried out. During the test, the LEDs 1-4 light and the
collective alarm is activated.
4.4 PCB 9.01.7-93.01.00-09

The PCB is used for the control and the break monitoring of the stop and start blocking valve.
When a wing break occurs in the connection line of a valve, the collective alarm”SAFETY
FAILURE” is activate. Valve (wiring break) and one green LED (valve ON) is providd on the front
plate of the PCB. By pressing the key “TEST” on the front plate of the PBC, a function “2”,
“STOP”, “STARTBL” light and the collective alarm is activated.

4.5 PCB 9.01.794.01.00-11

The PCB is used in connection with the wiring break monitoring PCB type 9.01.7-93.01.00-08 to
control the start blocking, reduction and stop . A maximum of four signal transmitters can be
connected.

An override of the inputs is possible with special programming of the PCB.

Each inpu is provided with an optical indication on the front plae of the PCB. When the limit
value of a signal transmitter is exceeded, the respective indication light and an alarm is activate.

When the key “TEST” on the front plate of wiring break monitoring PCB is pressed, a function
test can be carried out. During the test, the optical indications.

Attention!

Program the DIP-FIX switch S1 at override to 2 and solder it.

4.6 PCB 9.01.7-94.01.00-12

The PCB is used for the cancellation of the memory reduction and stop, and for general control
tasks of the safety asystem. The illuminated keys “CANCELLATION REDUCTION” and
“CANCELLATION STOP” are provided on the front plate.

A lamp test the illuminated keys can be carried out by pressing the key “TEST” on PCB 9.01 7-
93.01.00-09.
