Reflection Paper
The video entitled “The Power of Patient Education” is all about how medical personnel,
specifically nurses, deliver a patient-friendly education to the patients. Engaging to patients
wherein the nurses will explain and educate the patients about their disease, medication, and how
to handle the symptoms. In addition to that, educating the patients and giving them right
information makes them have better decisions. As nurses, we should be advocates in discussing
the patient’s condition in terms that can understand. This is important so that the patients will
have the knowledge and be clarified to everything that is happening. We learned in our
Theoretical Foundation of Nursing that there is a nurse-patient relationship that exists when the
nursing begins. With that being said, as a nurse we should educate our patients for better
understanding. When the patients are involved in the nursing process they are more likely to
cooperate and increases their chances for positive outcomes. Patient health education is vital in
the nursing care.
