The   Events   Management   Class   BS   Tourism   4A   and   4B,   of   the   Laguna   State   Polytechnic   University  
(LSPU)  with  Faculty  Adviser  Mr.  Jerome  R.  Fernandez,  Maria  Angela  C.  Valdellon,  Events  Management  
Chairman   under     College   of   Hospitality   Management   and   Tourism   (CHMT)   Dean,   Ms.   Charmine   V.  
Rivera,  MIHM  celebrated  recently  their  2nd  GLOCAL  Trends  of  Hospitality  and  Tourism  Industry  of  the  
New  Millennium  with  this  year’s  theme:  Global  and  Local  Profession:  Unveiling  the  Opportunities  through  
Enhancing   the   Minds,  Showcasing   the  Skills,  and   Visualizing  the   Future  as  an   Effective   Tourism  and  
Hospitality   Practitioner   held   at   Lolo's   Place   in   Bay,   Laguna.   Their   guest   of   honor   is   former   Tourism  
Undersecretary  Atty.  Oscar  Palabyab,  with  international  hotelier  Mr.  Merril  Yu,  Philippine  Airlines  Inflight  
Services  Manager  Mr.  Joselito  Las,  and  Hospitality  Consultant,  Public  Speaker  and  Trainer,  Mr.  Lyan  S.  
Mecano,   as   program   speaker.     Over   300   students   from   different   schools   in   Laguna   attended   this  
convention.  
 
University  President,  Hon.  Nestor  M.  De  Vera  Ph.  D  and  Campus  Director,  Engr.  Joseph  M.  Cabiente,  
MSME  commended  academic  events  like  this  as  it  breeds  ground  for  leadership  in  developing  students’  
skills  in  conceptualizing  and  designing  meetings,  conventions  and  other  kinds  of  events  enabling  them  
to   be   globally   competitive.     LSPU   is   state   university   in   the   Province   of  Laguna,   Philippines,   with   four  
regular  campuses  and  several  auxiliary  sites.    The  campuses  are  located  in  Bubukal  in  Santa  Cruz,  Del  
Remedios   in  San   Pablo   City,  L.  de  Leon   St.   in  Siniloan,  Laguna,   and   Mayondon   in  Los  Banos.     The  
College   of   Hospitality   Management   and   Tourism   (CHMT)   offers   courses   on   Bachelor   of   Science   in  
Tourism  Management,  Bachelor  of  Science  in  Hospitality  Management,  Diploma  in  Hotel  and  Restaurant  
and  Management.
