Amisha Gupta’s Case Analysis

Amisha Gupta a 22-year-old, had completed her undergraduate degree in Engineering from a
reputed college in Bangalore and was placed in Xciting, through campus interview and didn’t
spend anxious time waiting for the offer letter, which was faced by the previous year batch
passed students due to recession in Indian IT sector. Xciting was one of the India’s top IT and
IT-enabled services company. Every fresh undergraduate has to go through very structured and
in-depth training program so that they can acquire quality programming skills and domain
specific knowledge in which further they will handle projects followed by examination at the end
of the training. Apart from this there were also sessions from different departments of Xciting.
Through these session Amisha came to know about the employees of the organization, they were
passionate and proud to work for such a big organization, also how organization sticks to the
value on which they are built, which started reflecting on the Amisha during the training and also
helped her overcome the fear about the training. Amisha not only learned a lot of technical terms
but also learned that employee need to follow a certain code of conduct and rules of the
organization. Past experience helps us in tensed situation like it helped Amisha when she was
about to give her examination. Peer to Peer learning helps in solving many problems. While
reorienting the newcomers to professional work culture, trainers should take care in answering
the question, as a negative answer can impact the behavior of the newly joined and I future he
can be hesitant in asking the question and may develop a belief which is not good for the
organization. Apart from technical training, Xciting should have provided other trainings which
may include developing soft skills like team work, time management, also regular feedback can
be taken from the trainee how they are feeling about the training and implementing the changes
if which develop a feeling in the mind of the employee that feedback matter in this organization
and will also help the employee at the time of completion of simulated mini project. After
completion of the training program there can be an open dialogue session or a questionnaire can
be circulated to know the preference of job location and domain in which the newly joined
employee wants to go, because it will increase employee engagement which in turn will increase
job satisfaction if they are awarded the location and domain of their choice also employee will
believe that organization values their contribution and cares about their wellbeing. When the
employee joins a new location a meeting with his/her manager should be arranged wherein a
detailed discussion can be done about the role, the project which the new joinee is going to work
and if any question’s arises answer can be given there itself. Also, proper structure should be in
place by the manager wherein the work load can be shared and the time is utilized properly.
Also, a positive environment should be created by the team member which allows the newly
joined person to express his views. The company should have such a hierarchy where the
manager is easily approachable and an employee can share his difficulties without thinking
much. Also attitude of the managers should very supportive. When the project is going to get
terminated this information should be passed on to the team members well in advance and a new
project should be assigned to them or a training program can be scheduled for them taking their
opinion into consideration rather than making them sitting idle, which affects the mental health
of employee and starts creating a negative image of the company. Proper analysis should be done
about the old employee behavior, his level of association with the organization before assigning
new employee with him because it will impact the personality as well as behavior of the new
employee, his perception about the organization can change.
