SUBJECT: Introduction of the In-Line Fuel Filter

DESCRIPTION OF CONCERN
The service manual and the operator’s manual do
not include information on the in-line fuel filter (part
number 87548612) that was introduced into
production.

NOTE: The in-line fuel filter was introduced to reduce

the level of contamination in the fuel at the
mechanical fuel lift pump (part number 2830266).
This increases the service life of the lift pump, the fuel
injection pump, and the fuel injectors.

ACTION/CORRECTION
This service bulletin provides the part number, the
location, and the service interval for the in-line fuel
filter (part number 87548612).

It is recommended that a copy of this Service Bulletin

be put into the appropriate Parts Catalogs/Repair

1
Service the in-line fuel filter (part number 87548612)
at the first 50 hours of operation. Then, every 150
hours thereafter.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Low fuel lift pump pressure occurs when the in-line fuel
filter is restricted due to contamination build-up. Low lift
pump pressure can cause low engine power, engine
misfire/smoking, and fuel injection pump damage.

IMPORTANT: Replace the in-line fuel filter at the first

sign of any engine performance or fuel contamination
concerns. If the fuel is significantly contaminated,
remove and clean the fuel tank.
