Introduction
The main objective of this project describes Diagnostics Testing and Oil Processing
Service at Alba Line 5 Transformer units (6 nos). PGP contracting carried out the
services on following Transformer units under the supervision of ALBA.
Scope of work:
For the Transformer Id 71BAT10, 73BAT10 & 81BAT10 (487.1 MVA)

• Drain the oil from conservator and Hv cable chambers to storage tank .
• Disconnect the links from Hv side.
• Testing of Transformer Bushings - Tan delta ,capacitance & IR.
• Inspection of Bushings and chambers.
• Oil filtration.
• Link Connection.
• Vacuuming the Hv cable box.
• Refill the filtered oil from the storage tank to transformer .
For the Transformer Id 72BAT10, 74BAT10 & 82BAT10 (196 MVA)

• Drain the oil from conservator and Hv cable chambers to storage tank .
• Disconnect the links from Hv side.
• Testing of Transformer Bushings - Tan delta , capacitance & IR
• Inspection of Bushings and chambers.
• Oil filtration in the tank.
• Links Connection.
• Vacuuming the Hv cable box.
• Refill the filtered oil from the storage tank to transformer.

carbonized with smoke.

In ST 82BAT transformer unit , B phase bushing test tap cover found carbonized .
Due to the abnormalities noticed while inspecting the bushings Test lead cap , the followings
additional work has been performed as instructed by Alba .

All necessary tools and equipment were mobilized to site and stored in allocated area and
barricaded.

Scaffolding :
In this project, scaffolding erected in both hv and Lv side to drain oil from the
chambers and to open chambers inspection windows. Scaffolding were inspected at
regular intervals before Initiating the job.
Oil Draining:
The HV chamber oil drained to oil storage tanks . ensured that oil from each
chambers and conservator completely drained and stored in storage Tanks.

Oil sampling:
Before Processing the oil , oil sample was taken. Oil Parameters were tested by Alba
Lab.
Disconnection of Links from HV side:

Before disconnecting the links , HV chamber is checked internally for any
abnormalities through inspection windows

Inspection of LV side :
Lv side chambers and Bushings are inspected internally for any abnormalities .
Oil circulation :
Oil in the storage tanks circulated on required cycles and ensured the BDV and PPM
values are at correct parameters .

Testing of Bushings
Bushings test were conducted on each bushings in HV side and tested values are
recorded and witnessed by Alba supervisor.
Following test were performed in HV Bushings

• Tan Delta
• Insulation Resistance
Link Fixing :
• Hv links terminals are connected back and ensured the tightness .

• Ensured hv chambers are free from any abnormalities or sludges
• Cleaned the bushings and chambers boxes .
• Ensure the LV side bellows are properly refixed .
• Ensure that cap in the tan delta measurement point in the bushing is fixed back
properly.
• After final inspection . Both HV and Lv chamber’s inspection windows are
closed.

Vacuuming and Oil Filling

The circulated oil from storage Tanks are filled to the transformer when the vacuum
level reached below 1 torr . ensured the oil level in the conservator with reference to
the Transformer Temperature .
Final Inspection :
Ensured No leakage of oil in any part of unit.

Ensured oil level in the conservator.
Ensure that all valves are in normal Position.
Ensure healthiness of Air Cell.

Demobilization:
With proper clearance and inspection , storage tanks and machines are demobilized
from site .
Handover :
After completion of final inspection , Ensured all the tools and materials are cleared
from the site with proper housekeeping and handover to Alba .
