Song Interpretation

The song I would like to interpret is Rose by Eaj park which is one of my favorite songs,
this song is available on Soundcloud and Youtube. The lyrics of the song goes:

For the times when they hit you

Face down in the ground with the wet suit
Plant seeds but the tree never grow fruit
Shouting but they all got you on mute

When they got you thinking maybe

It could be me that's the crazy
All the tears bled up
On the climb up
Dry up
Into nothing

Nothing you understand

Nothing makes sense but

Don't you know that nothing's really ever beautiful?

We're all just broken windows
What you see depends from where
You set your eye
I could see my
Blood on the floor
Or it might just be a
Rose
Eaj or Jae already explained the full interpretation of this song and it is pretty close to
my original interpretation. Jae writes and cares a lot about his and his fans’ mental health and
this song is supposed to help him and his fans with their mental health issues. In the first verse,
“For the times when they hit you, face down in the ground with the wet suit, Plant seeds but
the tree never grow fruit” translates to when everyone or the world is going against you and
nothing is going your way which is what a lot of people suffering from mental illnesses feel
most of the time. I see it as a thing to relate to so that his fans know that he’s also suffering
with the same things and he’s just human like all of us who has feelings. The second part of
the first verse “Shouting but they all got you on mute” I feel like it’s basically saying when
you’re trying so hard to say something but nobody seems to be listening to you and you’re
basically invisible.

The second verse, I see it as a slight sign of moving forward and having a bit more self-
confidence by asking “Maybe It’s me and I matter” but still having doubts about it and scared
that it’s all going to crumble and fall again afterwards. On the pre-chorus and chorus, I feel like
It’s where you realize that this is just all in your mind and in reality it’s not really that bad.
“Don't you know that nothing's really ever beautiful? We're all just broken windows What you
see depends from where You set your eye” to me, translates to if we see it in a bad perspective,
it’s just going to get worse and that we should look at things differently. We’re all just broken
windows trying to see something beautiful yet, from a bad perspective it might look bad.

Jae didn’t tell us the interpretation of the last part of the song where it goes “I could see
my Blood on the floor or it might just be a Rose” but to me personally, I see it as him viewing
that other perspective. He saw something that looks scary or dark like his own blood but with
a bit of a change of perspective, he is able to see a beautiful rose.

All in all, I think this is a lyrically good song and it was composed really well! I really
recommend you to listen to it and many of his other solo projects. I’ll even provide links!
