The distinct socio-economic status is one of the most factor that contribute towards the

academic performance of student.

Education is the most powerful weapon of every individual in the society. This is because the

development of any nation depends largely on the quality of education of such a nation. It is generally believed

that the basis for any true development must start with the development of human resources. Therefore it will

contributes to the economic prosperity and social environment in a community, provides economic benefits to

society because well-educated citizens are better equipped for significant economic production. A person’s

education is closely linked to their life chances, income, and well-being. Therefore, it is important to have a

clear understanding of what benefits or hinders one’s educational attainment.

It emphasized that the socio-economic conditions of the family is an important factor in students’ academic

achievement. For example, Low income of parent is a major hindrance to academic success and development

on the part of the students. Student’s academic performance can be predicted by a chain of social-economic

factors resident in parents, family and network. As an educator we must rendered our concerns toward our

students for their better future. We must find effective ways on how we can help them to cater their needs in

terms of learning despite on their socio-economic status.
