Material Safety Data Sheet
Date Revised: 02.01.2014
Address : No. 1, Lot 1752, Lorong Sg. Rasau 27C, Sg. Rasa Light Industrial
Estate, 41300 Klang, Selangor D. E., MALAYSIA.
Product Name : All Natural Rubber Grades (TSR, SMR, SIR, STR, SVR, ADS,
RSS, etc.)
Raw natural rubber consists essentially about 95% of the hydrocarbon / ‘cis-polyisoprene’
together with small amount of other naturally occurring substances such as lipids (1.6%),
inositols & carbohydrates (1.6%), proteinous substances (1.4%), ash (0.5%), proteinous and
nitrogen compound (0.3%). However, the hazardous ingredients in this product are totally
encapsulated by the rubber and so should not present a hazard in the final product form. We
are providing this classification information for reference only. It is not the actual classification
of this product as supplied.
3. POSSIBLE HAZARD
4. FIRST-AID MEASURES
General Advice: Handling of solid rubber is not a serious health hazard and does not require
special first aid facilities. If in doubt, seek medical attention.
Eye: Irrigate with water.
Skin: Wash with warm water and mild soap.
Ingestion: Seek medical assistance; avoid consuming food in working area.
Inhalation: Seek medical assistance.
Raw natural rubber in bale form is not readily ignitable. But, once ignited, it will burn readily
with much evolution of heat, smoke and fumes. A rubber fire is difficult to extinguish as heat
may soften the rubber and the burning material may flow readily and thus spread the fire. An
added hazard is that raw rubber is lighter than water so that the burning material will float on
any pool of water.
Extinguishing Media: Water (sprinkler installations in storage areas), all purpose (ABC) dry
chemical, CO2, foam.
Special Fire-Fighting Procedures: During emergency conditions, overexposure to thermal
decomposition products may cause a health hazard. An approved, self-contained breathing
apparatus should be worn.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazard: When exposed to excessive heat or open flames, emits
acrid fumes and/or smoke. No explosive hazards are expected.
Spill or Leak Precautions: Wear appropriate protective clothing, gloves and equipment.
Collect spilled material by sweeping up solid powder and disposing of according to local
regulations for this type of product.
Waste Disposal: All containers should be effectively labelled to facilitate the appropriate
disposal or reclaim.
A good ventilated storage and handling in warehouse and well protected against fire.
Ventilation Protection: When this material is heated, provide enough fresh air and/or exhaust
to remove the hot processing fumes from the work area. Observe the Occupational Exposure
Limit of 3 mg/m3 (Threshold Limit Value - 8 hours time weighted average) for insoluble
respirable particulates, not otherwise classified (fumes).
Respiration Protection: Under normal conditions of use, respiratory protection should not be
required.
Eye Protection: Safety glasses.
Protective Gloves: Not Applicable.
Other Protection: Practice good personal hygiene.
This product has not been tested for ecological (physical and/or biological) hazards or the data
is not available or not known.
This material is included in the US EPA Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) "Chemical
Substances Inventory" and the Canadian "Domestic Substances List".
This product (as a polymer), is exempt from the European Inventory of Existing Commercial
Chemical Substances. Labeling according to European Economic Community (EEC)
directions is not required.
This material is not considered hazardous under the Mexican General Regulation on
Workplace Safety and Hygiene, Instruction No.9, Annex I.
