The system comprises 38 components that work in harmony. We communicate continually whether it be with
other people or ourselves. When it comes to communication with others you will likely have an area of your life
where you either have to or want to, develop your skills in speaking on a more intimate or larger scale. This could
be in a boardroom, to other parents, to sell your ideas or products, to talk about a subject you are passionate
about and many other situations – speaking skilfully is a GREAT skill to develop. To do this we cannot just focus on
what we want to say (The Message) that is just one component. All 38 components sit under three categories:

KEY AREAS COVERED IN THE WORKSHOP

We will explore a few of the components within the system with the aim that you can start to use these over the
coming weeks. There will be a few interactive exercises and we encourage you to play full out.

YOU
This is the area of communication that I believe we need to focus on first. To be an effective communicator, to take people
on a journey, engage them and leave them with a positive impression of you and your message - you have to master your
internal and external communication skills. (Extract from CWI Intensive Manual).

THEM
Now we move into the second primary element of the total communication mastery system. The emphasis here is on
THEM, the person or people with whom you are communicating. To get impact or to influence people, we have to shift
our focus away from ourselves and onto understanding whom we are dealing with and how we can connect with them
in an authentic way that aligns with their needs, their beliefs and their desires. (Extract from CWI Intensive Manual).

ENVIRONMENT
In this section, we will be discussing the importance of your environment. For many people, they do not take this into
account when considering what they are presenting and to whom they are presenting. It is only afterwards that most
people reflect and think “I should have done that in a completely different location” or “I should have noticed this was
happening and acted sooner”. The great thing is that you can plan in advance to create the best possible environment to
