Subject:Proposal to conduct a research project on Muslim families and their traditions in
Bangladesh during the pandemic.

INTRODUCTION:
Bangladesh is an Islamic country. The majority of the people living in Bangladesh are Muslims.
The state religion of Bangladesh is Islam. Muslim people are very much concerned about their
religious traditions. Traditions and values may vary from place to place but the motive is always
the same. Muslim families love to celebrate their traditions and cultures. But the current scenario
is quite different. Muslim people love to follow their religious rules in praying 5 times a day in
the mosque or doing religious activities. But because of this pandemic, many states have already
closed down many of the mosques just to save the people from getting affected. Because of this
pandemic, Muslim people are not being able to do their religious activities properly or nor they
are being able to celebrate their religious rituals.
The main point I would like to express or explain through my research is that how the Muslim
families and their traditions in Bangladesh are going on during the pandemic. I would also like to
address the part where either they are getting support or they are facing difficulties while doing
the rituals and how they are dealing with it in their everyday life. I do hope to get the propes
results or answers through interviews, articles, surveys.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS:
1. How are the Bangladeshi Muslims dealing with restrictions in going to their religious places?
2. How are they performing their rituals in this pandemic?
3. Do they take all these obstacles as a threat to their religious values?

HYPOTHESIS:
From my research, I expect to find the Muslim families are struggling to cope up with this
pandemic situation and they are struggling to follow their religious rituals. When it comes to
decision making on whether to go to mosques or not going to the mosques or follow the religious
rituals, I expect that the people and families should prioritize their religious views and act
according to that and obey their religious rituals on their best possible way to do it. I also believe
that Muslim communities are becoming moral support or a source of motivation to make their
struggles less tough. I expect to find that they are trying their level best to cope up with the
pandemic situation.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
For my primary research, I will conduct an online and also a physical survey of a representative
sampling of 40 general Muslim families and people in Dhaka and interview those people who are
actually following the traditions and find out about them. To that end, I will design and
questionnaire with different types of questions so as to get useful data that will help me to
answer my research questions.
For my secondary research, I plan to use the resources of the institution and will also use the
news portals. I will also browse the Internet and use standard research engines like Google and
read articles about Muslim families and their traditions in Bangladesh.

ORGANIZATION:
My paper will be divided into several sections, the most important of which are the Introduction,
Background, Data presentation and Analysis, and Summary of findings. Within the sections, my
organization will be based on my research questions.

TIMETABLE:
I hope to complete my primary research by the early 24 August and my secondary research by
th

the end of 26 August complete writing the final draft of my Research Paper by September 20 ,
th th

and submit it by the specified deadline towards the end of this semester.
